Good. Cleaning under it would be very easy then. No issue cleaning behind it like a floor mounted toilet.
I agree. I bought my mom one of those joe Campanelli spray mops. I told her I should be able to use it and keep everything clean in the bathroom so she doesn't have to do so much. It will be very easy to do my bathroom floor without the toilet on the floor. I am kind of excited about keeping my own bathroom clean. I know that is silly but to actually have my own space to take care of is exciting. The only thing I will need help with is the shower and the bathroom mirror. The toilet might even be high enough for me to clean it. It will make her very happy.

In looking at the kitchen design, I was curious to see if your mom is having pot drawers installed instead of having so many traditional base cabinets with doors. Pot drawers are deeper and pull all the way out, so it is much easier to access all your stuff. I love them.
When I updated my kitchen 2 years ago, I also had drawers installed on the dining room side of my center island, instead of doors as pictured in your sketch. At 61, I find drawers are much easier to access than a traditional base cabinet.

Yes. If you look at the sketch there are three drawers right under the gas cooktop. She is also going to have one of those base cabinets converted into three drawers. She wants to put her Tupperware in them. Also they think the island isn't right. Looks like the overhang for the bar stools is on the wrong side. As soon as we sell our house they will go in and make changes. They just don't have time right now. Since the basement hasn't been started they have time. She is short so she says she won't put stuff on the high shelf of the top cabinets.

You must be so excited that your new home plans are progressing! Congrats!
I just wanted to mention one thing about the placement of the kitchen sink.
Is your mom left-handed? If not, she might not love having no counter to the right of the sink. My island is quite a bit longer than this, but my sink sits in the middle and I know how much we use the counter on both sides of the sink, especially when we are cooking together. I realize the dishwasher has to fit in the island too, but just thought I would mention my observation.
Hope things keep moving forward for you!

We have had so many road blocks. Some caused by my dad's stubbornness and another caused by just never having built before. But most lay at my dad's feet. Not to excited until that basement gets dug.
i didn't even think about that with the sink. I will bring that up to her. It might just be the angle. I will have to look at the rest of the angles. But that is such a good point.

That would be a good idea but I wouldn't beable to use reach it with my disability.
I mentioned to her about the sink. Not sure that can be changed because of the blueprints. But I don't think it will be a issue since it is a double sink. Right now she always sits stuff to her left when doing dishes. But she will ask about it.
