If the grill is working fine AND there aren't bits of Teflon getting into your food - why not? Too bad you couldn't just replace the grill plates. Maybe you could get a used one like on ebay or somewhere to use for parts. But if the food isn't sticking and you aren't eating nonstick coating I'm sure there is no peril.

I'd probably buy another one just to make it easier on me. But that's just me. Plus I enjoy the nonstick coating for stuff like that. With a bunch of it missing, it's probably harder to clean up after use.

I love having a grill. I have a GF in the garage pending it being donated. Recently bought a T-Fal grill. Much more expensive (good price at Kohl's) but it is so much better. It cooks to desired doneness rare to well done. You can cook from frozen too. I could have used a smaller surface, but it works out fine. So far I love it.
