I received a postcard from the gas co. saying it was time to change out my gas meter. We have had the same meter for 20+ years. The technician came out yesterday(Saturday)and switched out the meter. He then went outside to "do some testing". When he came back in, he said he had to turn off the gas because our gas pipes had minor leaks at the connections.
I called the gas co. and the earliest they can send someone out is Tuesday morning. I think they should have treated this as an emergency call.
If I had any idea this would have happened, I would have waited until winter was over.
This morning, I am colder, but calmer. It is a good thing we are having a fairly mild winter in St. Louis. Has this ever happened to any of you?
