THANKS! Look's great! Easy enough for even me to do, lol. I like quick and easy projects.

Very cute!
On the order of galvanized containers, I like paint containers too. On my desk, I use small ones as pen/marker/pencil holders.

Galvanized metal containers are so ""in"" right now. I was at a local home decorating store that has lots of rustic items. I saw every container pictured in this post. They were expensive. I didn't get any yet. I'll see if the do-it-yourself galvanizing procedure works and then I'll try that.

Shop the flea markets and antique shows this spring and summer - you can sometimes score on the real deal. I have several pieces I've collected over the years, but my favorite is an old coal bucket with the handle that I plant with annuals and put on my patio. Similar to this one, and about 2 ft from back to tip, but I do like mine better than this one......I also really like the old paint-chipped wrought iron pieces. I have an old chipped white wrought iron gate that I have leaning against the wall in my bedroom with some flowers-one of my favorite things!

Thanks for the idea, kittymom. I have at least one of these old coat buckets in my basement; there might be two. Do you make a hole in the bottom for water to drain out?

If you can find a piece of a log, or if you have whole pieces of firewood, you can turn the bucket upside down on it, then you can use a big nail and make a few holes in the bottom. You may have to get someone to hold it for you...but it works!

I saw some TQ bowls at Marshall's last week that would work with the tablescape. So tempting . . . tablescaping just doesn't fit my lifestyle tho.
Thank you, whitelinen. My store doesn't have them either. I love the idea with boxwood. I would have to plant them before winter comes though-they would never survive the cold here in those containers. I do love her blog and didn't know about it until you told all of us. I now receive her emails. Your TQ bowls sound beautiful. Do you think these people who do tablescaping leave the plates and dishes up indefinitely? I do tablescaping to a degree-I do the middle of my table, but never leave the plates, dishes, stemware and everything up. The only time those items are present is when we actually are going to do a dinner.
I just ordered two of the olive buckets for use outside. I was tempted today to order another real one from Decor Steals, but it still would be around $57 when all said and done. Thanks for sharing. I would like to use something on them to age the surface as well!
Hi rose! I'm going to try the Lysol treatment on the olive buckets. They should arrive any day. I think gloves will be necessary for the aging process; the Lysol has a corrosive agent that's not skin friendly!!
I am so jealous you have a real olive bucket--good for you! $57 at Decor Steals is a good price. But I will have to be content with my WM dups.
I believe some tablescapers leave the settings up all the time! It might work in a dining room setting. My DR is currently DH's bedroom (due to his disabled status) so it's not happening here. I have seen some fabulous tablescapes. I think a poster here used to post her tablescapes; can't recall her name now. She posted some gorgeous pics of her home. What was her nic???

What a nice piece kittymom! We had a similar bucket years ago, but it disappeared when we moved from our farm.
Isn't it amazing how trends sweep thru the blogsphere? All it takes are a few bloggings about a new idea and it can catch fire. I saw a few galvanized steel pieces in garden blogs last year; this year they are even more popular.
I have a large galvanized tub I used last year for my fairly garden. I left it out all winter and now it has aged pretty nicely. I will use your technique to put some drainage holes in it before I put the FG in this spring. Last year I had a Fairy Swamp after a few rains. It was not a pretty sight! Thanks for the tip!!

I can't wait to hear how you like your WM olive baskets, whitelinen. When they are weathered, they should look fab.
That is interesting how tablescapers leave their table like that all the time. I have never done that, so it seems sort of strange to me. But then, if you go to all the effort, time and cost…. you sure could get some mileage out of leaving the whole shebang out.
You could get your turquoise bowls and do something with them in your kitchen. You could actually use them everyday in there! I love that tablescape at Confessions of a Plate Addict that was the Pottery Barn knockoff. That color combination could be used for your everyday dishes, if you really love it.
I laughed when I read your post about your BF neighbor who reins you in with your decor. I have a friend like that too. She doesn't go so far as to say that I have to remove items, but she laughs and says I have a lot of stuff. She is great though, She just helped me choose new upholstery fabric for my dining room chairs & bar stools. She has great taste.
