From $10 to $35 in 2 yrs? YIKES!

Had 14 bushes/shrubs trimmed.

Same 14 ones I had trimmed 2 yrs ago by the same local guy I've used for 10 yrs except for last year. He's my former co-worker's son, have known him since before he was born, etc.

Didn't think to ask his current fee, rate, etc., figured maybe $2 more max.

Now 5 of the shrubs are large, one has thorns/spiky branches, but the rest are just those spirea (?) (bridal bouquet) bushes that are like 4' tall.

Anyway, I paid either $10 or $20 per shrub last time, 2 yrs ago; I'm really pretty sure it was $10 ea.

Got the bill today for this time -- $35 per shrub.

YIKES!

I think the guy knew that was quite a jump, so he gave me a "discount" of $60, but honestly, I'm shocked still with the $430 I still have to pay, because of the really large jump and without warning. Still over $30 each, and that's 30% more even if I really did pay $20 ea!

If he'd mentioned he'd had a price increase and it was $30+ ea, I'd have not had him do the short, easy ones.

Anyone else see this kind of whallop by your lawn care folks?
