Both very nice.  The second one appeals to me more.

Re: Formal and Informal Dining Areas...

In general, I enjoy both formal and informal settings...they each have their beauty.  In this case, I would prefer the informal.

I love the first one!  I can see people sitting there, eating, getting up to get something, and being comfortable in that space.

The second one is a big no.  The people on the bench are in silhouette and that's bad bad for conversation. And the people looking at them get migraines.

I like both of these, except for the chandelier in the first pic.

The 1st one a little to boring for me . The 2nd picture , I like the bench , however I'd have to inspect the  other items in the room before making a final decision  . I need a closer look  at the   chairs ? leather or fabric  and those drapes with small wall lamps  & bead board wall .

The first one I don't care for, rather impersonal and not cohesive to me.

The second one I love --  cozy and charming with the pretty oval table, the lighting, the chest and the curtains.  Has a friendly, "stay-awhile" vibe!

I am not a formal decor person but I prefer the first room.

I love the colors and think the room is bright, airy, and pretty.

The second is just OK for me...the drapes and the lamps are what makes me dislike it.

I don't care for either space.
