For the poster that found the unlit sphere...

Can't remember who found this or what color they purchased. Just wondering if it was TJ Maxx/Home Goods/Marshalls? I found three colors today at TJ Maxx for $19.99. They are larger than the largest size from VPH. They had blue, cobalt blue and green. They had a glass piece firmly affixed to the bottom otherwise you could put a strand of lights in them. I would like to figure out how to get that bottom piece off!

What you got was probably an old-fashioned gazing ball. I get a fresh one every year at Hobby Lobby when they go on sale. I put it in my garden on an old bird bath stand, attaching it with some putty so it won't blow off. The sun often fades the brighter colors. I just checked one of mine and it has a plastic cap on the end which can be removed. Look at these......http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=10+gazing+globe&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=316689810...

Re: For the poster that found the unlit sphere...

Mallemo, it was me. I bought two cobalt blue crackled glass mercury spheres at Marshalls about 3 weeks ago. Since then, I have seen more of the cobalt color, and also a pretty greenish blue color. Each time I see them, they are gone the next time I go to the store, usually every 2-3 days. People seem to be drawn to them, just like us! I haven't put them with my pink spheres with (I thought I would start Easter decorating this week), but I am hoping that they look good together. Mine were $16.99, so yours might be larger. Aren't they pretty?

I saw some of the unlit spheres at TJ Maxx in blue and a blue/green a couple weeks ago. They were larger than the largest VPH sphere. I passed, but they were pretty. I may buy one more set from QVC. I am thinking about the lavendar or silver. That will make five sets then for me. I bought a pink birdcage from ebay, won a bid for $31.00 total cost. It is nice and the top lifts open so I put my largest pink sphere in it . It is sitting on a little yellow old fashioned table with flowers painted on the front. The door on the little table looks like a picket fence. Cute.

They are pretty Rosehill! I just wish that bottom piece would come off. They were pretty large and might look funny with the VPH spheres because of that. The only reason our store probably still has them is because we are still buried under snow and people can't see past that right now.

That sounds really pretty and I'll bet it looks nice. My birdcage opens like that too.

That is a great idea! I have a wonderful bird bath pedestal, the top broke, but I couldn't bear to get rid of the base as it has a rabbit and other critters on it, and now, I know what to put on it.
