Re: For my decluttering Friends.

Tomorrow a local charity is coming to pick up matching cabinets, a heavy dark pine end table, and a small stand. I will be at my weight watcher meeting and hubby will be home. I am praying it all goes smoothly.

One unit is in our smallest bedroom and it will make it roomier. I had photo albums, and scrapbooking stuff in it. I got rid of hundreds of scenic photos. I am going to use this as a winter project.

One unit is in the loft, and it will free up some space.

We will replace the dark end table with a wayfair type light end table. I am looking for a taupe or crème. The one I like is white. We could paint it.

Re: For my decluttering Friends.

I thought that I would only keep clothes if I had huggable hangers for them. Well, this worked great for my husband's clothes, not so good for me.

I am curious why? Does hubby not have huggable hangers? My hubby has huggables and uses them, but actually likes the old plastic ones better, and to be honest sometimes I do also. I used to go through my clothes 2 times a year, now I keep a garbage bag in my closet, and when something just doesn't work anymore, in it goes.

Re: For my decluttering Friends.

Just got my makeup sorted out and my clothes closet. I go by the "Color Me Beautiful" colors, I'm sure I'm summer. I love clearing the things out. The more I pack away, the more my mind feels cluttered, since I'd need to remember where all the stuff is at. By clearing it out, it's really a freeing feeling. Even all the purses I got rid of. I'm going to try and really remember to try and save. Maybe just get stuff for the house. (Closet let me see all the pants and tops I really have, and that's just for the warmer months.) I like to think others can use some of the things, I just wasn't using. Also want to remember the old choices of do I want it, or need it. Enough.

Re: For my decluttering Friends.

I know to get rid of STUFF but I don't see what is in front of me. It is almost like what I own is invisible.

I can only imagine what my daughters will have to do to sell out someday. They will be here for weeks sorting and dumping most likely.

I figured there has to be a better way. So as a photography NUT I took out the camera and started to take pictures, one room at a time, one closet at a time. When I started looking at what I took I started to notice and then notice and then notice. It was so much easier to see what was not in place or needed. I became an observer, not an owner.

I am on a roll to clear out.

This is exactly how I see what I don't like in my home. A picture is worth a thousand words. Photos, like scales, don't lie. You see exactly how bad (or good!) a space looks.

I'm always amazed when people post photos of their decor and such if they really see what everyone else does (not talking about anyone's style, just the quantity and arrangement of it).

Re: For my decluttering Friends.

Saturday, June 21

Today was an amazing day of decluttering ! I went to weight watchers and hubby was home to help St Vincent DePaul take some items. A funny thing happened, The Light House a local charity also showed up. I felt bad, not sure how this happened. I think I called them a while back, and when they called, I thought the 2 organizations were working together. They do work together on food.

They took 2 large shelving units, an end table, and a stand. The rooms look bigger. I still have 2 much in the loft, but my husband ties flies there and needs room.

The small guest room looks awesome. I scrubbed the floors, and cleaned the walls. I also vacuumed the curtains. I was at Target, and got a pretty multicolored quilt for the double bed. It was on clearance from $60.00 to $16.00. I am going to take pictures to post soon.

The loft also looks much better. I cleaned floors, vacuumed rug, dusted,...

Yes, all of my husband's clothes are on huggable hangers. Most of my clothes are on huggable hangers but I don't have enough for all my clothes{#emotions_dlg.scared} I have way too many clothes.

Everyone has a different lifestyle and you may need more clothes to various needs. I am retired 11 yrs, and live a casual lifestyle and only dress up a little for church. Now even church is pretty casual. I don't wear jeans or jean crops, unless a casual concert or Bible School. I go through my closet often and give clothes to charities often.
