This picture is more about "adding interest through different textiles". What do you think? Did they accomplish it? I know the textile I like the best. It's sitting on the couch!

@jubilant Although I like most of the items they chose, overall the effect is too monochromatic for me.
Thanks for posting this picture -- in the last few weeks I had new floors and new lighting installed along with new paint all around-- all in much the same tones as shown. I have a lifetime accumulation of art and objects I love and expect that those plus some area rugs will be the color in my home.

Too much blah for me! Need COLORS!!!

What I have discovered (through my own decorating this past year) is......... if you choose a lot of neutrals you have more choice of any color/colors you might want to add or change in the future in accessories/decor. Like many here, I like color too but I'm finding I can change up things a lot easier if I start with neutral walls, carpeting, etc. I used to pick 3 colors and go from there but, to my surprise, starting with neutrals on the big things has really set me free to pursue many different avenues, so to speak.

I like the sectional, and I like the cooktop hood. Otherwise that is the biggest hot mess I've seen here in a very long time. It looks like the warehouse of a second hand store to me.
You'd need gps just to walk through the place.
Color couldn't fix this.

This looks to me a bit like a house and home showroom and I'm not seeing much I'd want to bring into my own home.

@jubilant --totally agree with every word you said--I did the exact thing when I re did my house after tree damage---unfortunately--I sold that house so wasn't able to really enjoy it long, but my next place will be done the same way-----
p.s----I made a BOATLOAD of cash off that house--mostly due to the crazy housing market but the decor was a good part of it too.

@Sooner I couldn't help but wonder if this was an apartment. It does seem like a lot in not so much space. Then again sometimes it's just the angle of the camera.

@jubilant Agree there's a lot to recommend neutrals but there are neutrals and then there are neutrals. I guess I just don't much care for the tones selected for this room. Then too, there are different periods of furnishings and accessories and their almost exclusively modern choices don't appeal to someone like me who needs at least a shot of pretty and traditional. Even a different coffee table might make some difference. That one is among the most unappealing pieces of furniture I've seen in quite a while, and replacing those blah tan pillows with something to give the room a little zip could only improve it.
