I've been using Swiffer for dusting & for lightly washing my floors (I live alone -it doesn't get very dirty). I have a small fur baby, no carpet, & dark floors. I wipe up dog hair almost daily.
Using Swiffer, I seem to have to press a little harder to keep the dog hair on the mop head when dusting. The Swiffer mop is stiff, doesn't do curves, & not all that great for me.
Remember the dust mops we used years ago? We could spray Endust on them & shake the dust from the mop outside?
Well, 1 of the mops I'm trying is a microfiber one that's not a flat pad like Swiffer. The microfiber head is washable.
A 2nd dust mop I'm trying has a microfiber mop head, but it's rectangular like Swiffer. A difference besides microfiber is that the handle swivels to get around furniture legs & is adjustable.
The 2nd dust mop can also be used as a floor cleaner mop with 2 different microfiber mop heads included for wet cleaning. I almost prefer a bucket and squeezable sponge mop to my Swiffer wet cleaner. I use the Swiffer wet pads. They get the first 4 square feet too wet, & then the pad dries out quickly and I'm getting another one. Too many pads, too wet, too dry.
But Swiffer leaves a nice fragrance.
Then I searched for a spray bottle of floor cleaner for the new mop. Some of those popular cleaners have some pretty bad ingredients.
I decided to try Bona first.
Too bad Swiffer doesn't have a separate bottle I could spray for cleaning.
I found Endust for dusting too, but I'm not getting it.
So, I'm waiting for 2 new mops to arrive; both for dusting & 1 for washing, along with a new cleaner.
(I already have an iRobot Roomba i7)
My simple floor cleaning has turned into a saga.
If you don't use Swiffer, what do you use on your non-carpet floors for dusting and for washing?

@Desert Lily It's a good thing you have plenty of time on your hands. Perhaps you could get a contract with Consumer Reports.
You'd think the Roomba alone would be sufficient for dusting. I use a flat microfiber mop with changeable, washable pads for dusting and a sponge mop in the kitchen.

Hi @Kachina624 LOL
I thought new inventions were supposed to save us time. Ha! I think it was faster decades ago.

I just broke my bona mop at the base so I’m thinking of replacing it with the spray bona mop. You fill the container and it sprays out the liquid. I won’t need to carry the spray bottle.
I vacuum my floors or use a giant dust mop or broom. I use swiffer wipes on tile but I go through a lot of them so it’s not cheap. Sometimes I switch to a microfiber head and just wet mop with a little water and vinegar or a cleaner.

I swear by the Don Astlett/or/Campenelli microbier dust mop. It's a mop head that has a variety of mop/dust pads that will self stick on the head. I have 2 GSD dogs and a variety of floor surfaces and they work. You can use them wet or dry. I prefer dry except for the delicate floor material and I'll just spritz a bit of cleaner on the mop pad. Works well. For the tile floors I use a steam mop.
I have a variety of mops and vacuums depending on the job and the floor surface. It's no longer a chore if you have the right tool for the job.
Hope one of these will work for you.

Kachina, were you born snotty or did your personality curdle as you get older?

I have the same mop. I use the pads wet and dry. I wet the pad and wring it out before I place it on the head. Sometimes, I remove it and rinse it out and keep going if I am doing a lot of floors.
I often put Bona in a spray bottle and spray the floor before wet mopping. My floors are hardwood. I also use a clean dry mop pad to dust my walls.

@Desert Lily I'm no cleaning expert, but i just want to say in case you were considering it, don't put any endust or a wood polish type cleaner on your floors! They will be so slippery!

Best mop ever!

@Desert Lily I use swifter but after the kitchen floor is mopped I lightly rinse the pad under running water. Then press it out with my fingers. That way the floor is rinsed.
I use the steamer monthly on bathrooms, slate foyer and kitchen, laundry room. Not hardwood.
I've tried spin mops but they're so wet. Sometimes I use a sponge mop if in a hurry. The maid liked the fluffy cloth ones and they can be rinsed.
I use swifter pet hair for dusting, and dust mopping. They can be turned over to use the clean side!
