It's getting chilly here in the PNW, so yesterday I switched out my summer sheets for fleece. I have a set of Malden Mills Polarfleece sheets that are a couple of years old, and the fitted sheet is pilling badly and the elastic is starting to come unsewn at the corners, so I am sure it's the last year for it. I'd like to replace the set, but don't want to buy the same brand, the pilling on the bottom sheet happened with the first use. My questions to you all is "Do the Berkshire brand sheets last better and hold up over time?" Or are there other brands in brick&mortar stores that are better quality than what is offered online? Or should I just go back to flannel, even though the fleece is so warm and cozy? TIA!

@CamilleP - Pilling is the reason that I don't like any kind of fleece at all. I have a few regular old Hanes type sweatshirts that have pilled on the inside and I have to turn them inside out to wear them because I can't stand the feel of it against my skin.

I've had the Polarfleece, & don't care for them, but LOVE the Berkshire sheets. I have 4 sets of them! They wash well; hold up after many washings, but, best of all, they are so, so SOFT!! There's nothing else like them, imho. HTH

I love the fleece sheets simply because they are cozy and don't leave creases in my skin, but they do pill.I used to like the flannel sheets, but they are so heavy.

Portuguese Flannel Sheets from LL Bean, Lands End or Vermont Country Store.
They don't pill. They are nice soft & comfy & will last for years.

@Nightowlz - I totally agree! I just replaced a set I've had for a little over seven years, and the substitution was mainly due to the fabric finally starting to wear thin in a couple of spots and the fact that over all this time, the flat sheet has now shrunk too much to completely cover its designated area. I went with a different brand this time, called Pointehaven (still 100% cotton, which is the key), and the sheets are doing very well after two months and many washings. The pillowcases are actually much nicer than my previous ones.
Fleece sheets are too hot and "unbreathable" for me, even though there are many brands that make versions that feel very plush and nice.

I have the Berkshire velvet ones. They don't slip and slide or peel into piles. They are warm but not hot. I have hot flashes due to my thyroid and PCOS, so I can't handle hot sheets. I tend to buy all cotton so I too was skeptical of the fleece sheets. I do have some cotton flannel ones and some Threshold ones I got from Target last Black Friday. I love both.

Thank you, everyone, for chiming in! I think I missed ordering the Berkshire fleece sheet sets when they were a TSV recently, but next fall I'll know to order a set. If these old fleece sheets I have become unusable this winter, I'll dig out some of my old flannel sheets, I have some old LLBean plaid sheets somewhere, I'm sure.
