I don't see any chicken wire.

The room is lovely, but it looks as though the fireplace was repurposed somehow but still serves no purpose.  I don't think it's seen a fire in a century.

I think what you see as chicken wire is tile.  There is a different configuration on the bottom of the fireplace, going horizontally, and inside of the chimney it's on a diagonal.

The room is off balance to me; one side of diners are slammed up against the fireplace while the others have plenty of room.  That ruins it for me.

I like the room itself, but I don't like how it is decorated.

I don't like the murals on the walls, I think they make the room look too busy and closed in. The room would appear bigger if they simplified everything, and left the walls a solid color, preferably cream or white.

I'd move the table and chandelier to the center of the room, and lose the side table for more space. I'd leave the mirror but remove what looks like cinder block under it. I'd replace it with wainscotting, to match the wood going up the stairs.

I don't like the fireplace top or inside. The floors are okay, but I'd prefer straight planks, rather than the chevron pattern.

It's a pretty space. I can take or leave the fireplace treatment but I think I'd rather leave it in favor of something more simple. There's a lot going on in that room.

Assuming the thing with a mantle is the fireplace, I wouldn't put chairs right under it. A tall person could stand up and hit their head.
