I kind of like this room...the mural is a bit much for me but it reminds me of a photo of my great aunts home in Europe. They have a mural in their Dining Room.

I think they did the best they could given the architecture of the room.  The murals on the walls of trees and outdoor is an attempt to open it up as the mantel tends to dominate and close in the room.  I think they did a great job....I could live with it!

Granted this is totally not my style, but I kind of like the whole package.  And I do like the fireplace treatment.

I would move the chandelier and table to the middle of the room, get rid of the side table and mirror, or at least move it, take away the top of the fireplace that looks like a kitchen exhaust hood and open up the fireplace.  Guess I would redo the whole thing......oh well.
