Re: Favorite feature of your current home

@151949  When we remodeled our current home, we had a portion of our east deck covered. In the morning, we can watch the sun come up over the Seattle skyscape, rain or shine. On the west side of the house, we built a large deck with a gazebo and have a nice spot for the hot afternoons. We gained a lot of real estate for our home by doing this. Heart

Re: Favorite feature of your current home

20 years ago when we bought it I loved the garden tub in our master bath.  20 years later and I don't do baths anymore, just showers.  Knees just don't work like they used to and getting in and out of it is just too much work, nearly impossible.  You don't think about those things when you are young, but 20 years down the road, not a pretty picture.  I miss the days of soaking in a nice hot bubble bath, showers are just not as relaxing.

Re: Favorite feature of your current home

I love our huge kitchen.  It was supposed to be a kitchen and separate dining room but when my parents had it built, they opted to just make it one big room.

My absolute favorite thing about my house is my kitchen sink.  LOL  I know that sounds ridiculous but we have been remodeling our kitchen and about a year ago we got new granite countertops and we replaced our old, porcelain double sink with one big undermount silgranit sink. I love that thing.  We've had several people come over and comment on the sink and how they wish they had done that.  It's huge and very deep.

My favorite thing about the layout of my house overall is that it's not an open concept.  There are defined rooms which I prefer.

@Lipstickdiva I agree with you - it is very difficult to find a new build house now that isn't completely open concept. Our villa is semi open - we have half walls defining the kitchen and dividing the living room from the foyer. But since they're only 4ft tall they allow open view.

Ranchstyle, 3 out of 4 bedrooms have walk in closets, and master bedroom is on the other side of the house.

We put in an addition in 2001. Our bedroom looks out over our forest. It is so peaceful and quite.

As someone who grew up in a large city with only street parking, I have quite the affection for my attached garage.

Re: Favorite feature of your current home

I am excessive compulsive about always putting the car in the garage. My DH is a hoarder. When we lived in Pittsburgh & had 2 cars he had the garage so full that my car had a slot just big enough for me to pull it in and open the driver's door, but he knew in no uncertain terms I would put that car inside no matter what I had to run over. It took him 3 months to clean out the garage when we moved to Fl. BTW - I could only buy fairly small cars as I had an MGB when we got married & for 14 years so that was the size of the slot I had in the garage.

Cape Ann in the country. Old fashioned but we love it. To big for us but moving would be hard.

Re: Favorite feature of your current home

We have a really great house but one of its best features is that it sits on a hill overlooking a large park. And we have a tax bill to prove how awesome it is
