I have no decorating sense. I need ideas. {#emotions_dlg.blink} Any simple ideas for fall decorating around the house?

I just decorated my kitchen yesterday. I have a lot of Valerie's items, so put one garland at the top of the hutch, and one on the countertop. I put my Jim shore's three harvest items on the middle shelf, with flameless pumpkins in between, and on the top shelf between Jim's tall cat figures. I put branches of berries, which I bought at Michael's, in a vase in another area.

I ran Valerie's garland with the pumpkins, gourds, and berries down the center of the table, entwined tiny amber lights throughout the garland, and used two of Valerie's berry wreaths at either end with her orange hurricanes in the centers, and flameless candles within. I added more of Valeries lit pumpkins here and there around the garland. On the island is a very large berry wreath with a hurricane in the center. I placed the mini beaded pumpkins here and there throughout.

I have a large milk can in a corner on the floor, filled with orange, yellow, and gold huge fluffy flowers, looks great if I do say so myself. The ambience in the evening, with all of the flameless and mini lights, is spectacular.

I will be adding Valerie's mercury glass pumpkins and pedestals as I go along through different rooms.

With all of the ready made wreaths, garlands, and scores of beautiful pumpkins I've seen, you shouldn't have any trouble. Buy some things that appeal to you, take them home and start playing around with what you've purchased. I bought a big bouquet of artificial sunflowers and plopped them in a wooden basket and that's my dining room display this year. Don't forget to add flameless candles amongst your garlands. I bought way too many pumpkins this year because there were so many beautiful ones I couldn't "just get one". {#emotions_dlg.wub}

I think less is more. And if you don't already own a lot of stuff, consider this.

Seasonal wreath on doors, in and out where appropriate. Only one, or several depending on your house and how it is situated.

Use a wreath as a centerpiece and place a hurricane with a candle inside. On the dining table, or the coffee table. Makes a nice statement.

If you already own some lanterns, use actual leaves, gourds, pine cones, or acorns and such to decorate them. I love lanterns, because they can be switched out for the various seasons, and always in use, not taking up storage space.

Go fresh. Get pumpkins, gourds, and mums for the porch or along a picket fence. When the season is over, they can be composted with nothing to store. Buy local and help out the local small businesses.

I am avoiding lots of small knick knacks these days, as they just add to clutter, and instead focusing on larger statement pieces.
