Re: Essential oil diffusers

[ Edited ]

I have a nebulizer type diffuser. I stopped using it b/c I didn't want me or my dog to breathe in the oils. Many are not healthy to inhale, especially for pets b/c they have more sensitive noses.

My diffuser looks like this...Aroma Ace. Also has different brand names. All you do is connect pure EO bottle to back of the device. No water, pure oil. Fully adjustable for amount of oil you want to diffuse plus it has a timer for it to go on and off throughout the day.

@goldensrbest,  you're probably looking for the higher tech kind that @SilleeMee has, but, on the chance you (or anyone) are also interested in the 'old school', reed diffusers in a bottle, I found one that is extremely effective.

Could not believe how long lasting, and yummy smelling it is.  It's the "Frasier Fir" by WoodWick, in their "highly fragranced" line:

We use it only in winter, and the tight stopper keeps it potent all year round until we open it again.

No bottle diffuser I've tried comes even close for long-lastingness or dispersal of fragrance in a room.

The others of theirs that I've seen but not tried, are "Fireside" and "Vanilla Bean".   Bonus is, that the heavy, flat little bottles are good looking wherever you place them.

Yes please be mindful of your pets and using these things--my cat got so sick from breathing in these things--and I mean sick to where she was at the vets everyday for 5 days for IV hydration, shots and blood work as the vets did not know why she was so sick. My DD just happen upon an article online that described what my cat was going thru and we quickly took a wall flower from Body works out and opened all the windows to air the rooms out--she recovered within a day or 2---but she was very sick. Was scary and cost a few thousand $$ in treatments.

My daughter in law got one that you add water to it, intrigued me, because i am not happy with so many wax melts,candles.

I got one many years ago from Amazon and was thinking of digging it out as I haven't used it for a few years.  The one that I used was mostly water with a few drops of essential oil added.

I like that it adds some humidity to the room without having to get a large humidifier.  We also have a whole house humidifier but the bedroom still gets a bit dry.

Also purchased mine from A several years ago, but can't even find my model now. Mine holds about a cup of water. I use it at my office desk every day. (Wouldn't be without it!)

They all do the same thing. It's up to you as to what decor you are going for.

Just wanted to add, that yes, pets generally are negatively affected w/ diffused EOs. I did read, however, that dogs can tolerate some (the ones I use): eucalyptus and frankinsence & myrrh - but you have to research exactly what.

@goldensrbest

My sister-in-law gave me a reed diffuser for Christmas.   My first one.  It's a Vila Hermanos in Eucalyptus and Mint.

I love it.  It's very subtle and warm.
