End tables

Right now, I have matching end tables at the end of the leather couch in our family room......they even match the coffee table right there, too. There was a time when I thought that was perfect, but now I am not liking the matchy matchy look. I do have some painted black furniture in the area and thought a piece of that could replace an end table......a book shelf, but I really do not need one....OR..... a chest with drawers, but what I would need is height and it would just be about the same height as our couch. The couch is on a TALL wall. We do not NEED an end table at either end, as the coffee table works for cups/glasses. Thought on what to put there? I thought about even a nice tall palm plant, too.
