Is it just me or do others feel Ellen is exploitive, I know she helps a lot of people, but why can't she do it under the wire. It seems so self serving and a little creepy to have these unfortunate people on her show to show the viewing audience all the good she's doing.

"Has anyone thought that the Christmas show that she did on her "Ellen" set in Hollywood may have created a legal issue? Perhaps the "powers that be" had an issue with her using her talk show platform to promote a product line that has nothing to do with that show."

Not understanding this comment. One would think that QVC, the network, Ellen's agent, etc. would have contracts detailing the terms of the agreement to sell on QVC. I'm sure the QVC camera crews did not just show up and start filming.

As to the products, since they are proprietary to QVC, is Q manufacturing/buying products and Ellen is just paid as a spokesperson?

I have read Ellen's hobby is buying multi-million dollar homes, remodeling and decorating them, That's an expensive hobby.

Yes, I can see your point of view. It sort of makes me uncomfortable, because I feel so bad that the people she is helping are being hauled out like it's some sort of telethon. It may also be that she is trying to encourage others to do good by setting an example. In the end, she IS helping people, so I wouldn't want to see her stop.

I like Ellen but, not her products ..the products she sells have been sold before by other vendors

Ellen's and Valerie's items are very different from each other. Valerie's more traditional and Ellen's modern. For that reason, I believe there is room for both. If Ellen is there or not does not affect how much I like her product. I would imagine she will appear during the months her show is on hiatus. Also, we should not base our like or dislike for a product based on how much money the vendor has or how many charities they support. As long as they are coming by their $ legitimately, it is their business. Whether or not they use their $ to help the less fortunate, is between them and their Maker.

To clarify, I was suggesting that the "powers that be" included sponsors. I'm sure she had clearance from the producers of her show to shoot the QVC program. Either there could have been subsequent fallout from the sponsors of the "Ellen" show, or she could have signed a deal with HGTV subsequent to the QVC deal, and that network or its sponsors may have taken issue with her appearing on QVC. There are so many scenarios here. Based on my experience, I'm just suggesting that her not appearing on QVC could be deeper than her simply being too busy to make the trip. There are always legal issues in showbiz. No contract is ironclad, and entertainment lawyers are constantly in court negotiating changes to existing agreements.

Yes. Valerie Parr Hill also. I see many wonderful things in Home Goods.

I'm tired of Ellen. I'm not interested in her recommendations for home goods. Many of them look like Q's goods anyhow.

I agree with those that think her line will not last long at QVC.
