I've gotten the "itch" to do some redecorating and have been on a buying streak. The last time I majorly changed things (besides painting the house) was 14 years ago.
I've had my mantel basically the same way for that long and was tired of it. I ordered a couple of brass candlesticks from Pottery Barn and flameless candles with remote from QVC. I ordered three vases from Pottery Barn and bought p*u*s*s*y willow branches from Michael's for one of them. One of the vases is on backorder. I'm so happy with the way my mantel looks now.
I'm ordering a flameless candle for a hurricane lantern that I have and also for a large vase on a chest. I think it will look nice to have everything lit. I'd like to change my coffee table and another table in the living room a little bit, but will have to think about it.
I've had the same window treatments (valances with wooden blinds) in my bedroom and master bathroom for fourteen years. I'm going to change those out with either seagrass blinds or Roman shades. I think I would prefer Roman shades, but they are significantly more expensive. Do you all like seagrass blinds?
I've also ordered a chambray duvet cover and shams for my bed. I have a down duvet that I love so wanted to get a duvet cover.
This is how my mantel looks now. Please excuse the dog toys and crate. I'm getting one more vase (second picture) for the mantel lthat's on backorder.
Edited to say: I hate to waste the money I spent on the p. willows, but I'm going to go to go to Michael's and try to find a more colorful vase filler

First off I am just stating my opinion. Everyone's decorating tastes are different.
That being said-- for me these particular mantel decorations are too neutral.
With the fireplace being in the earth tone color wave & having all those individual
stones I would have gone with some sort of contrasting color. The gold and white
candlesticks blend right in. For me I would have gone brighter and more colorful.
I would definitely do Roman shades. I have custom drapes & blinds and its
a whole world of difference. Pricey but worth it.
Cant comment on the duvay without seeing it.
Good luck. Hopfully you will be happy with your new look.

And that's why we have so many flavors of ice cream, because I love the neutrals and minimal look.

I love all the different vases.
Do you have photos of the shades you are considering? Would the roman shades be a cloth pattern?

I agree with @Patz822 . I think the mantel needs some color to make objects stand out. That new vase is going to blend into the rock background like it was camoflaged.
My concern with a Roman shade would be keeping it dust-free, a major PIA if you live in a dusty place. I've also heard they're a nuisance to raise and lower.

Great suggestion about leaning a painting on the mantel for color.
You can still use the vases and candle sticks where they are.

I love it, @NickNack
It's lovely and very organic. Not everything "needs" color. It's your house.
