@millieshops wrote:@Susan Louise I don't have as many as you do, but I know some of my pieces came from my mother's collection. She was married in 1928, so those items could have been presents that year. Not much fun shopping happened once the Great Depression bankrupted my parents and grandparents.
But before TV shopping became a thing, I added to that collection at antique shops. Later I boght a few pieces from QVC. I would not buy more because noone in my family needs or wants decor.
@millieshops Our collection I acquired through estate sales/auctions, antique shops, garage/yard sales, QVC presentations, quarterly/semi annually ordering through the Fenton shop/their catalog, etc. It was thrilling finding new additions/treasures. DH would even pick out a piece or two as a gift for my birthday or Christmas gift too.
When it's not the holiday season, every night we turn on the lights in the cabinets and enjoy seeing all the beautiful eye candy...never gets old. ![]()

@amyb - Just love your pieces! How special to have that sweet cat from your Mom and the pretty turquoise box from your MIL. It's priceless to have things that connect us to those we love. And nice to have a pretty vase for flowers.
I agree with you that many people will happily buy and display "kitschy" stuff from Homegoods, etc. but have no interest in things of value. Don't get me wrong - I also like some inexpensive decorative items. And I appreciate decorating styles that are different from mine.
Like you, I collected much in my 30s and 40s and was very into antiques. I also inherited a great deal of glassware and collectibles from my Mom and grandmothers. Now at 70, I've culled through everything and have a small collection of things I cherish and display. It brings me joy to be surrounded by beautiful things.
So much fun to hear about everyone's Fenton pieces and memories. Thanks to all for sharing!
