Re: Do you or don't you? #topsheets

Any ideas what to do with an extra top sheet in a set?

Creative ideas?

Re: Do you or don't you? #topsheets

I have to have a top sheet.

When we first got married, my husband would untuck it because growing up they didn't use top sheets in his house.  My m-i-l couldn't stand them so no one got one, same for winter blankets.

If you don't have a top sheet, what do you do in the summer when it's too hot for the comforter or quilt.

I've never used a top sheet, except when I was married years ago. I prefer the feel of a soft blanket rather than a sheet on top.

If you don't like the idea of a middle sheet on your bed, why not mix & match with your other fitted, bottom sheets?

I have a so soft, cozy flannel top sheet that outlived it's fitted sheetmate. This time of year when the weather turns chilly, I top my cotton percale fitted sheet with this so soft flannel top sheet for a bit of warmth.

If you sew or knows someone who does, cut it down to pillowcases or sham cases. I always look to repurpose when I can.

While my bed is a king, I can use an extra top sheet on the queen in the guest room and just tuck it in. Nobody has ever complained that gee, this is too cozy!

This is shocking to me!!  Woman Surprised  I never knew anyone who didn't use a top sheet, and used to think if someone didn't must be impoverished or didn't have good access to laundry, LOL!!

I was raised mattress pad, bottom sheet, top sheet, blanket (could be down) and bedspread.  This was a "proper" bed.  Maybe it's a Midwest thing, I don't know.

I would never would use a duvet, too much work.  Now I just use top and bottom sheet for sleeping mostly because I'm always hot.  In the winter, top and bottom sheet and a light goose down blanket.  I find flannel sheets comfy to sleep on, even in the summer.

I must have a top sheet and at least one or two small (boudoir) pillows in addition to the regular pillows (2).  I even take small pillows when I travel.

Bedding is a big deal to me and good (great!) sheets are something I will splurge on.  And a nice cotton blanket, one of the ones with a texture like a wool blanket, not one of those droopy heavy ones.

The top layer (bedspread or quilt later in life) was turned down and not used for sleeping, to keep it clean and nice looking longer.

When I grew up, I did pretty much the same thing, but couldn't afford to keep the heat up very high for many years, so added more blankets! LOL

Exactly my experience as a child, and I continue that procedure today as an adult.

For a long time (in the last century) flat and fitted sheets were sold separately. Thank goodness I had the foresight to stock up on quality bedding in the 70's & 80's.

I cannot stand the cool, smooth feel of a top sheet on my skin. Never use one.

Now ask me what I use over the bottom sheet so I don't feel that either.

I have to use a top sheet. It's easier to wash than a comforter, a blanket or a duvet cover. Having that extra layer allows me to wash the top layer less frequently so it lasts longer.

Re: Do you or don't you? #topsheets

I've alternated using top sheet my entire life... by the time I was a teen I chose no top sheet and only a comforter.

I usually decide by my mood in choice of bedding styles. When using a cotton quilt I normally use a top sheet...when using a down blanket or comforter I like the feel of the cool crisp down.

I don't judge either way...I'm going to do my linen laundry weekly and bi-weekly either way, except pillowcases get washed twice a week regardless.
