My home is very cozy.We have found that owning a home is always a work in progress! A few years ago we redid the entire first level. We refaced the kitchen, put in new appliances & re did the ceramic floor!! We also moved the dining room to where the den was & turned the living room/ dining room combo into a big living/family room.I took out the carpet & put light oak laminate down.It came out georgous!! It has become our favorite place to hangout & entertain!!
My next project will be the 4 bedrooms upstairs.Paint & carpet or laminate(trying to decide). The spare room is a project in itself. That room is where the computer & excercise bike live.It needs an overhaul!! I will begin that task in the spring!!
I love my home.My son spent his entire life here.So many beautiful memories are in this house.Maintaining it to me just helps to preserve those memories & helps to make new ones!! I can't imagine not living here!!
I'm grateful for all the blessings in my life!!

Yes I enjoy my home the best I can but I would like to move but I know I can not afford to at this time. What I do is I decided to make my home as attractive to the eye as I can which "HELPS" when you would like to move.

We lived in a large colonial (built in the late 1700's) for 30+ years. It was a beautiful house and it held so many memories. When our son and family moved back East, they moved into the main house and my husband and I moved into the carriage house. That lasted for a few years. It was wonderful having our Grands nearby. Almost everyday I was able to do something with them. Eventually our son sold the house and they moved to a new sub division. Our DIL wanted a neighborhood with children and actually hated the old house.
My husband and I relocated to our shore home. The location is great, across the road from the beach and I've always loved the community. The house is a large Victorian, built in the early 1900s. When Sandy visited NJ in 2012, everything on the ground level was destroyed. We were lucky that a few years earlier we purchased an apartment in NYC. My husband worked there a few days a week and had spent a fortune living in a hotel (for years) part of the week.
Initially we moved to the apartment. but my husband was commuting to NJ part of the week. We leased a home in our original hometown while our house was being renovated. I love everything that was redone in our home. I have my dream kitchen.
We love our home and our apartment as we have the best of both worlds.

I'd rather be at home than anywhere else on earth! My house is 30 years old (my DH built it), and it needs some work--wood floors refinished, carpet replaced, painting inside & out, and we could use a new sofa & chairs in the living room, none of which we can afford at the moment--but I'm comfortable and happy there.

After looking at developments in the areas where our daughters live, one In CT and the other in FL, we decided we really do love our home and we decided to stay where we've lived for decades. When we built our house, we chose the plans, hired a contractor, and built our home to our quality specifications, our taste, and our budget. My husband is very knowledgeable about construction, having supervised several projects in the hotel business, so we did things right. The house is in great shape and it's all paid for.
We've lived in our town for almost 50 years. We went to the university here and after we earned our graduate degrees, we worked at our alma mater for a combined total of 75 years. We have friends here and love the community. We may not be able to stay in our home forever. We may downsize or need to move to a one-story place some day but we'd like to spend at least a few more years in the home that has brought us so much joy and so many memories.
This is a simply beautiful story!
And I have this idea (or philosophy, if you will) that we can always move on to new and different things, but the one thing we can never really do is go back. So if we are happy with out lot in life at the time (be that a job, our home, our location, our relationship with someone etc.) we should enjoy it and not be so quick to move it into the past. There will be the chance for change in the future, so enjoy what you love and have today!

We lived in an Ivy League university town for 30+ years. It was a wonderful place to live. The university offered the town so many events. It also brought such diversity to the community.
It was also an absolutely gorgeous town.

My home is comfortable and I like it. I enjoy the location and hanging out with my DH here.
We built our home, so everything in and out was chosen by me. But, I am not emotionally attached to this house. I could sell it in a heartbeat and not miss it.
My love is traveling. I have always been happy anywhere I am. Yesterday, we got home from spending a month in Florida. When I was there, I was happy and content. When we are at our summer place at the Lake in an RV, I am happy there too.
When I was younger, I often became emotionally attached to things like my home or a car. Today, it is just stuff to me.
I think I would be happy in a tent if the location was wonderful. My father used to call me a gypsy because I was always looking for someplace to go. It's not that I don't love being home., I just love traveling more. There is so much to see and do and so many people and cultures to meet.
When I am in my own town, I am a homebody. I am not an outgoing party animal.

I love being home. I love my privacy. Yes, my home can depress me at times when see things that could be replaced or fixed better. I do the best I can as I can afford but really would like to have everything fixed that needs fixing all at once. Maybe when I win a lottery!

Yes. We've lived here almost 20 years. It's an old house and needed lots of work. My husband isn't handy with home improvement projects, but we managed and had things done a little at a time. Only thing that couldn't be repaired is the built-in oven. It's so old, they no longer make the parts. So, we use it to store pet food..

Same home 47 years and the builder said we would be moving many times. No way. Live rural in a neighborhood mountain top. Have great neighbors. We are close enough to crossroads of major highways without being on top of them. We are near farms and yet we can get to cities in an hour in any direction. And with the Internet, who needs stores except for groceries which we have plenty of.. Walmart galone, Wegmans, Giant Eagle, Safeway, Food Lion, and Costco. One mall rather dead and many home style restaurants.
Feeling so blessed.
