That may sound like a dumb question, especially in this forum, about home. But I have a number of friends and relatives that don't really spend any time in their homes and don't enjoy them.
One friend is in a bad way financially now for many years, her home is falling apart and I can understand why her home is not a joy to her. But other people I know have beautiful big homes filled with the best of everything, and they find reasons to never be there. One family in particular has never spent and entire 24 hour period at home, between work/school, running errands, shopping, movies, eating out most nights etc.
So while I'd rather be home than just about anywhere on a regular basis, I know some people just use 'home' for sleeping, showering and a launch pad for the next big thing they are doing.
How about you? Do you enjoy your home, your furnishings, enjoy spending time there?

Oh, how I enjoy our home and where it is located!!
For some reason, my DD thinks I need to be elsewhere, and I do go with them, because I think it more important to be with family. But they have no idea how much I would rather just stay at home.
I guess because I did my own share of ramming around!
Glad you enjoy your home, mominohio!

I don't need a fancy home filled with the best of everything to enjoy my home and yes mine is falling apart as well. I sometimes look at it as a money pit but I feel so blessed that I, as a single woman, have a home that others might envy. Everyday I try to count my blessings, my shabby, modest home is tops on my list.
I don't have to worry if I can pay the rent next month, I still do have a small mortgage but the monthly payments are very manageable. I have a pretty backyard, very green and somewhat private. It's a lot of work, inside & out, most of which I can still do on my own but all in all, it's a castle for me.
As far as furnishings go, I wish I has less, not more. More can be a burden. I'm content and comfortable, who could ask for more?

I think it's a very interesting question.
My sister and I live in our respective townhomes (in different cities) and would have the opposite responses. I love my home. It's modest, but has the amenities and size I need and want. Every piece of furniture, decor, or even storage item is something I not only like, I love. If I don't, I won't have it in my home for long (a Cuisinart food processor and a too large roasting pan are being donated this weekend). If I need something, I hold out till I find the piece I really want (still looking for a bookcase that thrills me and fits my style). I painted most of the art on my walls, and I have plants outside that I know I can take care of (translation -- do not require a green thumb).
My sister's home exists to enable her to get out of it as quickly as possible each day. She has not one ounce of sentiment for her home. She loves clothes and jewelry, but once dressed, she kicks that house to the curb. I actually drove the 185 miles to her house last spring for the express reason of planting succulents outside and helping her pick out a new sofa. She loves them both, but never would have done that on her own.

My home is old and inconvenient, but .I love it. I try to keep up with the care and maintenance, and sometimes I fail, but when I sit on my porch surrounded by my plants, I'm so grateful I have a home and don't have to deal with a landlord or other people living in my 🏡 .

I don't have to go every day. After not leaving the house for a few days I am ready to get out but ready to come home. My home is comfortable and everything is set up to be easy and comfortable. It is certainly not a showplace but it is my place to be myself, comfortable and safe.

Yes, I love my home. I do work from home, but that really has nothing to do with it. Even if I worked outside of the home, I would still love it.
It's roomy, has enough storage, is easy to clean, updated, and is decorated to our taste.
When the kids were younger and we were running around more to sports and other outside activities, we weren't home as much. That was fine - we enjoyed being out and involved in all those activities. Now we have one in college and another one about to start in the Fall, so we'll be home more. I'm actually looking to downsize in the next few years.
I always hope to live somewhere where I enjoy my home.

@Mominohio My home is my castle. My fingerprint is on every square inch and everything is placed in or on something with special care. I would rather be here than anywhere else; however, I enjoy lunch out with friends and a day like yesterday when I plundered through Big Lots picking up odds and ends. I've always been a homebody and after being retired nine years this month there's not been one day that I've not enjoyed or been bored. ![]()
