Adorable pics. I don't have a creative bone in my body. I do recycle, though, meaning everything possible gets donated and not trashed. Then someone else can create this stuff.

I'd have to say that unless done very well, I personally think most re-purposed stuff is, well, not always that appealing.
This is pretty much my position, as well. When you see the pictures posted on places like Pinterest, some of them seem very well done and cute, but when I go to craft shows where people actually do this, the stuff in most often tacky and looks like recycled stuff from last weeks trash.
I have no skills myself in in this area, so I pass on it altogether.

Here's a polarizing repurposed piece! You either love it or hate it . . .

Who remembers making radios from oatmeal canisters?
Not me. I remember connecting two cans with a string, but that never seemed to work too well.

...and I'd would display it proudly! Our cats would love this!
Has anyone made or had someone make a t-shirt quilt? They're popular with high school and college kids- boys and girls. I had saved (sentimental reasons) a lot of our kids t-shirts while they grew up, and put a quilt together for our oldest son. He really loved it, brought back memories for him. I'm trying to find/collect a bunch of shirts to make one for our youngest. I found a shirt from LEGOLAND that he had from years ago and mentioned to him that I needed to find a few more shirts to start his quilt. I thought my 21 year old was going to cry- he assumed I wasn't going to make one for him. Didn't know it meant that much to him!
Mistri, do your parents have a shuttle service in their area? Ours here is called SARTA , we also have Koala Cruisers who will pick up and drop off kids and/or seniors for appointments for a nominal fee. There is also a company that uses a van that is equipped for the disabled that transports but they are more expensive to use. Maybe you can check to see if there is something like these. Much better than a city bus or cab, and safer. My elderly neighbor used SARTA for times I wasn't available to take him to appointments.
Best wishes to your family- Hopefully your brother will be able to get a few things done around the house that needs taken care of! There's always something that needs fixed or unclogged
. That will keep him busy!
Thanks, I've been framed.
I told my mom to make a list of things she can have him do while he's here. So far, all of them require my help as well. Yay.
We do have shuttle buses that pick people up at places and drop them off, but you have to be going someplace in the same town, or you have to cross the bridge and then call the shuttle for that town. Or you have to take one of the regular buses. Either way, they are frickin scary. One time I was on one of those little buses, and a guy threatened to kill the driver and everyone else [me] if he didn't make his next bus in time. I...don't...really want my parents riding those...especially since my poor dad has been having nausea, and it's really hard not to get motion sick in those little buses, chemo or no.
That is cute that your sons get such a kick out of the t-shirt quilts. I would've thought they wouldn't appreciate things like that until they were older. I know I didn't care much for most sentimental items when I was in my 20s. Then again, most of my childhood memories are ones I'd rather forget...so there's that.
The kitty bunk bed sure is cute, isn't it? The cat on the top bunk doesn't look happy though. I thought everybody wanted the top bunk?

There are some fun videos on YouTube, if you're ever feeling adventurous.

I think it looks like it's been sitting outside in harsh weather for quite a few years.

You can make cans look pretty nice without too much creativity or labor.
