@Sweetbay magnolia wrote:Right, @cancun08. I totally agree. Might as well string tailpipes together if you are not willing to invest in the good ones.
Certainly, even the best can be a bother if a person doesn't like them.
Haaaaa.....I know......My son thinks that they are the most annoying things on earth!!!![]()

Ha, @CatLoverDogsToo - I guess noise is relative.
Neighbors can be interesting. I'd like to think my chimes are well-chosen, and placed to where they are not a bother.
Thankfully my neighbors party during the day only, usually!
Good luck with the "situation". I've had my share of those types of neighbors.

My neighbors behind me have installed a pool, and a large screen smart tv on the back of their house with large speakers attached. as well as a stereo They play music so loud that even with my windows closed I can hear it. They scream and talk at the top of their voices too,. It appears they think they are the only people in the area and treat the area as a "frat house". They don't seem to live inside of the house which is small, since they do everything outside to the wee hours of the morning. I imagine people they used to live near prior to buying the house behind me, had a huge party celebrating their leaving. Most inconsiderate bunch of folks I have ever run across.
I do rather like the sound of wind chimes, to answer your question. If you don't like them, I can see how a bunch of them would be annoying.
I guess I just needed to "vent" about my horrible neighbors. .
That's horrible!! Does your city have ordinance codes that you could Ile a complaint? I'd check with your city code enforcement office and see. I think our city does, but it may only be late hours, or there's a time limit of how long they can have noise that carries--it varies city by city. I know with neighbors having visible junk that it takes an additional neighbor to also file a complaint form in my area. You might have power in numbers, good luck.

I would love to have wind chimes, I do love them
Don't give a hoot what the neighbors think.
In my neighborhood there is constant noise - barking dogs, sirens, train whistle, loud cars, loud music, little kids screaming/playing. The wind chimes bothering my neighbors would be the least of my worries.
I would hang mine in a tree in the yard, not on my house.

Ours went up yesterday, and the tone of them, is wonderful, we really enjoy them.

It completely depends on the tone and sound and what I'm doing. I like some of them more than others and pretty much hate them all when I'm trying to sleep.

Love them! We'll be putting ours up again soon for the summer season. They sound so soothing with the gentle breeze off our lake. ![]()

The four I own are already out.
I'll take them down in November.
