Re: Displaying Plates in a Dining Room

I don't care for displays like this.  Reminds me of a store.

This is an appealing room, overall, and I love displaying plates and other types of dishware. That said, I don't think these plates are particularly worthy of display...

not my taste, the room looks so busy...the light fixture is not my cup of tea either...but,it's their home not mine...I display my Hummel collection on plate racks...

Re: Displaying Plates in a Dining Room

I don't have a problem with the plate(s) display but I would choose a different color and the whole room is just not my style anyway.

Re: Displaying Plates in a Dining Room

Especially if used regularly, this is a great way to display dishware you love and want to see, make it easy to access, and doubles as both functional and pretty decor.

I have a hutch that I display some serving pieces to whatever set I have out for use each season. Again, easy to access, pretty to look at and complement the decor/season.

If one has a place to display like this, I never understood not doing so, and leaving pretty dishware behind closed doors.

This totally works for me....very calming and I like the colors.

I display plates in many rooms of my home.

Re: Displaying Plates in a Dining Room

In theory, I like this. In practice, I would live in constant fear of the plates falling and breaking, and I would not want to have to continually dust them (if only for display purposes) or wash them every time I wanted to use them.

And I actually don't mind the grouping of monotone color in a room with other blocks of color and patterns that are complementary. The overall feeling is fresh and airy.

It's an attractive room.  I love the washed Chippendale chairs.  I prefer plated in a china cabinet because of dust.

I also like art on walls.
