I dont care for round tables, I dont seem to every have enough room on them.  The best table I ever had was a retangular antique.  I recommend retangular table.

Update on my Dining Room Table

In the end, I decided to stay with my rectangular table.  I looked in many furniture stores and didn't see anything that I liked more and boy, tables are so expensive!  I refinished the top - it's solid pine and recovered the six chairs.  I also took out the leaf.  The table has 2 leaves and I decided I didn't need to leave them in when I am not entertaining.  It looks great and I saved lots of money - happy!
