I’m springboarding off of Oznell's design posts!
My interest began with her posts. I have found I enjoy looking at pictures of decor. On Reddit, people submit their own pictures of their interiors with the captions reading "What do I need?"
The design suggestions often follow an acronym:
C -- color
R -- rug
A -- art
P -- plants
I'm including a few examples.

They are unique, especially the 1st one.

Agreed!
I’m looking at the various items the owners chose because my space needs some help lol!

Great idea, @LTT1 , to give us these to analyze.
#1. At least the person on Reddit had a sense that they needed help with this! I'd say this person has bohemian instincts, with an interest in "global" design, but in my opinion, they've tried to do too much in one corner.
The large object with eyes, might be a folk mask, or some other cultural object. It's too much for this space.
The three round objects on the shelf system don't work here either. The bookshelf is actually a nice, probably walnut midcentury piece, and it's nice with the books, plant and the globe on top.
I personally would not have that "graphic" of a rug, with all the other things going on. To me, removing that, and the other changes mentioned, would give a more calm, midcentury boho feeling. The green accents in chair, lampshade and plants could be punched up with at least one more green element.
#2. Modern desk area, pretty nice, interesting contemporary pieces. They don't necessarily need more symmetry to balance the flowers, but I might have a more substantial lamp than the brass one on the other end. That, or an interesting long, sculptural. low bowl on the desk, to hold pens, etc.
#3. Cozy layout for conversation, nice rug, great windows nicely dressed with shades. Good idea to have a sofa table behind couch, but too many small, undistinguishable objects. Choose maybe two framed photos, with compatible frames but noticeably different sizes. And, besides a lamp, maybe one - two other interesting objects that can be identified across the room-- not "ditsy".
Choose an accent color, perhaps pulled from the art work, and use it in pillows and throw. Choose 3 standout objects for coffee table, no more. Otherwise, an attractive apartment living room.

WHOEVER designed THIS house where I'm living...must have been a MALE with only a couple pairs of jeans and T-shirts...and 2 pair of shoes.
OK...so I bought the place (the "price was right")... I added a lot of shelving, and cabinets...

@Desertdi I kinda know how you felt. Our first home was previously owned by bikers. It was definitely a fixer upper. Many things turned out to be a tear it downer. The house was worked on as we worked to pay for things and it eventually was restored to a home where there was love.
I don't know why folks trash a place and destroy and beat it up.

I think that corner is convoluted, too much going on for me to decide what the style is.That 'alien life form' is beyone me, I would not like having that waching me every day and night! I like the sitting area but it is too busy for me.

I really like #3, cozy, comfortable and attractive.

I think all three of those spaces are pretty awful.
