Re: Design a LR from a Blank Slate

Sorry to delete, i was worried about the photo copyrights.

i envision this as a lovely office/library space and would draw from my love of Art Deco.

@lolakimono----I would add another alarm, having that one on right side throws off the balance----tedEbear

Re: Design a LR from a Blank Slate

If this is a living room, I like the fireplace idea (electric or gas) with tile or stone the color of the room's trim. There seems to be a door on the right side of the room. I'd keep the furniture tonal, in shades of vanilla to off-white. I don't like rugs, so I'd let the beautiful floor show uncovered. I'd put a few books on the shelves, but I'd also add about 3 pieces of art glass on each case, keeping 1 per shelf and breaking up shelves that contain books. A large uphostered tonal ottoman would help the room look comfy yet keep it simplified. I might add a large modern or abstract canvas painting with mostly the same tonal colors and an expensive textural throw.

I see this room as a Dining Room with a large round table in front of that window.

Drapes for bay window.

Pretty green plants on windowsill.

Books in bookcases.

Floor lamps near each bookcase.

Table and chairs near bay window.

Beautiful rug on floor with matching sofas facing each other.

Sofa table with candles and flowers.

Grouping of family pictures on wall.

@Iwantcoffee

Your room sounds beautiful!

My room would be very similar - just a few differences. I would use shades instead of drapes. I am not a candle and flower person. I would put a few family photos on shelves or tables instead of the wall. I would find some nice artwork for the walls.
