I don't have outlets outside of my house, but I would like to use some battery-operated things outside this year. I've never done it. How do you outside decorators hang things on your windows, above the door, etc.?

I can't decorate outside anymore...everything gets stolen!

Sad commentary that anyone wanting to decorate has it stolen or vandalized. I have my Halloween stuff out in front now. I put timers on the lights around the door and out front. They go on around 6:30 and off in four hours. Loading up on candy for the kids. I'll be ready on the 31st. Should be a good night as no school then next day.

This is what it looks like during the day.

I use the big suction cup hooks for hanging items on glass. The Scotch 3-M Command hooks work really good for most surfaces, too. For some items, I use nails and I hooks and leave them there, and then just change out the decorations for each season. I also have a staple gun that I use for hanging items on wood surfaces. Sometimes just a simple thumb tack works.

I use the large suction cups for fixing things to my windows. A wreath hanger which can be purchased for $2 at Wal Mart for hanging wreaths on the doors. They sell gutter hooks if you want to string lights from the gutters. Make use of small nails and wire.

I hang my lights on the inside of the window. I have strands of battery operated lights. One strand per window, 4 windows on the front of the house. I use 3M hooks - not the white hangers, but silver hooks. I bought them in Walgreens. I outline the window with the hooks and thread the strands through. It's way too cold here to go outside and take down lights in January. I also use a battery operated wreath.

Guess I am the bad one here I put small cup hooks around my door frames the I can decorate around the door all year round. But now I have a problem we bought a very expensive new front door which is beautiful but the man who installed it for us put all new siding on the frame so no more cup hooks on that door frame so now I have to use some of the suggestions on here.
