Am I the only one who decorates with my own style?  While I find some things very pretty in celebrity home styles I would not buy it just because some famous person "styled" it.  My guess is that they have professional stylists design the things and put their name on it.  I am a fan of Trisha Yearwoods singing and her cooking shows, and now she has started a home furnishings business.  I havent even looked at the site yet to see what its llike.

Ok my little hissy fit is over.  Thanks for reading.

Oh I surely don't follow trends. I do my own thing when it comes to decorating my home. I'm always asked who did our decorating since it is so unique. I always have a difficult time finding pieces for my home. The furniture stores here in my state are so "normal". So mid-west living style. So conservative styles. Thats not me at all. When I find something I quick jump to buy it. My home is now furnished and my job is done. Woman Happy

I buy what I like....It calms me on a stressful day to look around a room and see beautiful things that I like....

@ID2 YES YES YES  ...   I feel the same.  I moved to the Chicago area 20 years ago and there were several stores that had the coolest and really well made furniture.  Neither are in business any longer.  Everything is SOOOO traditional.  Even the stores that advertise that they have modern things are not my idea of modern. We also decorate with our own style which is modern but unique.  We get a lot of compliments from people as well, which is nice, but most importantly, we LOVE coming home, and are so HAPPY there.

I decorate my house for me.  I get inspiration from many areas.  There's nothing wrong with hiring a decorator, but it's not something I am interested in.

I don't really decorate - just get practical things that I can be relaxed and actually live in.  It does not matter to me if anything matches or looks good together!

My home is a mish mosh of things.  I buy what appeals to me and never really care about a name brand or who designs it.  I guess I am a pottery barn/shabby chic type style but like I said, if something appeals to me, I get it.  YES @Imaoldhippie, I totally agree with you.  Make your world at home YOUR world, who cares who designs it....ITS YOU, YOU the designer.

I never care about the 'celebrity' of anything, and think a big part of the problem with our culture is so many people caring what celebrities think and do, then spending the time to follow that.

When it comes to home decor, I find that I am usually years behind the trends, and I'm ok with that.

I don't like modern anything in my home as it usually comes with lots of geometric patterns and shapes to the furniture. I like soft curves and detail.

I also don't need my house to be the same throughout, which is what is so trendy today.

I like wood....in it's more natural state. I see people painting every piece of wood in their homes, both wood trim and mantels as well as furniture. Some is ok, buy many of those make over shows make me cringe when I see what they do to some beautiful wood.

I like a lot of the painted pieces people do or choose, in the off whites, they are beautiful, but I can't help think that some day, a lot of people are going to regret paining really good old pieces. I see and enjoy a lot of big pieces like hutches from the 1980's styling, that look so different  when people paint them, really better in my opinion, but I think it has become a trend that will look dated in a few years, and some of those pieces that people have painted over will be a regretful decision.

My family room is more primitive/country/early American, my master bedroom is rather feminine with a beautiful quilt with lots of roses on it (and our guest room is much like that too), my son's old room is more craftsman style.

The living room and dining room have a lot of antique and antique reproduction furniture in them.

At this time, I don't have the same flooring throughout (as seems to be required today by a lot of buyers) as I have the flooring reflect more the style of each individual room.

I also tend to like what I buy. Be it furniture, or home decor items, or flooring, paint or paper, I'm happy with it for decades, and usually make slight changes after many years or something is worn out and needs to be replaced.

I love decorating my own home.  I buy what I like and also what works together nicely.

Even if I hired a decorator, I would probably be like “huh?” and like “ no!”.

Decorating to me is a personal thing - put this with that, or take away this, or add that - you will get the look you are going for... and no one really knows what that look is except yourself. Magazines can help give you good ideas or tips. And well, the shopping for items is half the fun now isn’t it? Happy decorating,  large furnishings or decor items ... pulling it all together is  the other half of the fun!

I like what I like. If it has a celebrity name on it ok. But I would never buy something because it had their name. I have to really like it.
