Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Needed to get back here for inspiration! Yesterday was twenty-five degrees above normal, so we washed the garage floor before the cold weather hits next week. I recycled a bunch of cardboard boxes, and decided some of my Halloween decor can be tossed after Oct 31. Today, I took everything out of the linen closet and threw out a few things. One shelf holds medicine cabinet things, so expired covid tests needed to go. I consolidated some liquid soap and threw out two empty bottles. My biggest project will be parting with Christmas decor after the New Year when we go down to just one artificial Christmas tree.

@AuntG  I really should go through my Christmas stuff now!  I scheduled a vets pick up for next Monday, it gets me motivated this week, since I already scheduled the pick up date.  I have a few small end tables, a few pictures and a mirror.  But want to pack a few boxes of clothes and coats too.

I've  really watched shopping, bringing in much less and more going out. Definitely a plus.

One of my projects has been to reduce inventory in my over stuffed freezer.  Way too much in there and have been using some and not replacing.  Still a bit too full to replace yet.  Its not a bargain if it gets old, freezer burnt and tossed!

One book.  Pitiful.  But at least it is something!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I will unplug our garage refrigerator/freezer around Thanksgiving because I've heard they shouldn't be used when the garage gets below 40 degrees. It's nice to use up what I have on hand. One thing I dislike about my kitchen's freezer is that it can't hold pizza boxes. The dividers my freezer are just a bit too narrow, so now I'll have to be fussy when buying pizzas.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I haven't been doing a lot of decluttering but I have set aside to donate 2 winter hats and 2 small decorative lamps. The lamps were on my mantle and they are cute but it was just looking too cluttered. I don't really have anywhere to set items out, no shelves or extra tables. Maybe that's a good thing. I don't have a lot of decorative items, even for holidays because I just don't have anywhere to set anything.

I tossed a ripped pair of winter gloves and an old bottle of dog shampoo.

That's all I can think of for now.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Hi folks,

Did major cleanup of email files just now while exercising on my spin bike. Multi-tasking!

Am tossing an old (from 7 years ago but hardly used before this year) novelty tote I used all this summer for the beach and for schlepping things in my car. Faux leather starting to crack, got stained inside, and I just wanted to "use it up" one more season then toss.

It is, however, a one in one out thing, but I'm ok with that. I got a deal on Lug's Paddle, on Luglive, after watching for it all summer, and I'll be using that as my summer tote/beach bag on vacations, and next summer. I do have two other beach bags, but it's ok, I use them all, for various things, various sizes.

I don't know if this winds up being more of an "inventory update" rather than a purge post, but either way, it keeps me on top of things around my home, and organized.

@rnmom Thank you for starting this post.

I like to read what people have accomplished. And think I should also get rid of years of stuff.

I am getting scared to start bringing out my winter clothing. With summer clothes there are shorts, short sleeve tops and light weight items. So it takes up less space, so it doesn't matter as much that there are alot of items. BUT winter stuff is bulkier and more material. It fills up the drawers and closet alot faster.

It has to be done but I am not looking forward to "The Change".

I have been trying to use more items from my garage freezer. I want to clean it. But easier said than done. No sooner do I clear out an area, I find something interesting at the grocery store, Sam's or Costco,  that I want to try, and that empty space is filled up again.

@drizzellla - You are so welcome! It's so nice to see your post!

I totally hear you about the freezer clean out. I do exactly the same thing. Eat some items down only to fill it back up again. Hunting season is just starting so I do have some empty space that will probably get filled with venison but I also want to work on eating down my freezers this winter so I can clean them next spring/summer.

Good luck on the seasonal clothes change over, keep us posted how it's going, we love to hear from you!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I tossed from outside a large tarp that was ripped up and laying on the ground and a plastic pot that I think either came from a fruit tree or a berry bush that we bought. I have no idea what hubby was keeping it for but it was just laying on the ground outside and I got tired of looking at it. Hopefully he won't get madSmiley Happy

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

I pulled out a bag of cloth shopping/tote bags that I don't need. Kept one.

Came across clothes I have purchased for Grands and pulled a few that they have outgrown but still lovely to donate.  New box of boys underwear too small - donate.

Pulled six belts that I can't wear.
