Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

A friend of mine got a new puppy, I had a puppy collar that I don't need and an extra leash that I gave him.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Today I went through our kitchen cabinets and freezers throwing out a lot of almost used product that we will never use up or stuff that expired or was freezer burned.  I told my family that this week's dinners will be made with stuff we have remaining.  Tonight DD is making chicken fried rice with chicken breasts, brown rice and frozen veggies. Other possible menu items include pasta, chicken thighs with more rice and frozen veg and Ikea Swedish meatballs with frozen mashed potatoes and frozen veg.

More refrigerator purging bright and early this morning from the dark depths of deli drawer. Found the dregs of macadamia, Brazil, and pistachio nuts 'squirreled' away in plastic bags in the back of the drawer. These must be years old as can not recall the last time purchased these particular nuts. The walnuts, cashews, and pecans are used almost daily. And, now use individual portion bags of pistachios for convenience.

This is probably my third pass at getting rid of expired or old stuff in the fridge in as many weeks. Seems like things are growing and multiplying in there!!! LOL

Keep up the good work and appreciate everyone's posts regardless of amount purged. Cheers and Have a Great Weekend All!!!

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Today I did some closet organizing.  Used a couple Pereira (sp?) small storage boxes to organize the bottom of my closet and now I want 3 more small ones.  My shelves are small so those are the ones that fit the best.

Then decided it was time to go through all my body and bath products.  That was a daunting task.  Quite a while ago I started dating the products as I received them.  Mid-2024, I stopped buying bath and body stuff because I had too much.  So today I went through and decluttered all the ones that were years old.  Went from 4 of the plastic shelf organizers I used for them down to 3.  I am now set with bath and body stuff through 2026 - I'm not joking.  LOL  No more bath and body shower or lotions or creams for me until ALL of this is gone.

Re: Declutter 2025: What Have You Purged Today?

Packed up another Christmas box to go out to storage today...got 3 boxes and a ceramic Santa ready to go up and out, and other misc. holiday stuff...but it's colllld, and snowy out there today, so I'm not dragging stuff out today.

Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and nicer, will try to bring stuff up and out of the house then.

Only declutter...started to go through my paper files. Filled the shredder once, filed away some other papers, then pooped out! Lol. Just didn't feel like any more "mind" stuff...as you have to look, read, see what's what, before shredding...had enough after one pass through. It's a start, and everything is neat up there, it's just all the back filing that needs some sorting through for more old statements that can go. I save 3 years only.

Now I'm cozy in the living room and probably will read!

That's it! Hope everyone is having a good weekend, and praying things improve in California...devastating.

Ah, ❤️ Nick Lewis on YouTube, my favorite Interior Design influencer...his latest video might inspire, reboot some of your decluttering, it did mine...he addressed categories I thought I had covered...but upon 2nd thought...No...no I don't think I have updated my stashes on some of these things and need to revisit.

My next declutter session I'll be reviewing some of these things.

For his latest video check out "Throw These Out!! 10 things you don't need in your living room.

And if he doesn't jumpstart any decluttering for you...at the very least...he's a hoot.

Enjoy!

Thanks @JudyL I took out the link. I always get confused with what's allowed with links here...I always thought it was just news articles, and shopping links that weren't allowed. Somehow I didn't think an innocent YT video wasn't allowed, but I guess none are. Tks again!

No live links are allowed anymore.

Although I have included a few live links to other threads on the forum lately that seem to be allowed to stay.

Hi folks, happy Sunday morning.

Just went through 2 more files and shred more.

After watching my Nick video yesterday, he mentions old candles...I forced myself to put two pretty jars, with used up candles in my recycle bin. My instinct is to always start to think, how do I get out the residual wax and repurpose this pretty jar?! Progress on my part. Let it GO! Btw, I don't burn real candles anymore, just use a candle warmer lamp that melts the wax, scents the room, without burning it. After many uses the fragrance gets used up...so these jars are still filled to the top with wax that no longer smells.

Not sure what else I'll get purged today...
It is sunny out though still cold but planning on bringing out my holiday/seasonal boxes to upstairs storage today.

Now...the big question is....am I letting GO of my Christmas trees. I have two table tops (my mom's small one is still upstairs in my office, the other by the fireplace) and my one slim full size still up in diningroom window. Mom's is the smallest and is going up to storage; it stays decorated with the decor it came with. The others will have to be dismantled. I just saw an old pic of the pre-lit white winter artificial birch tree, I got a few years ago to hang Easter eggs on, that looks pretty in winter with just my red cardinal ornament in it. I liked the look so much I think it may just help me finally transition to that!  Stay tuned..... 🤔 😀 🎄
