Have not decluttered much lately
Did clean fridge today and scrubbed bins, etc. How does a fridge get so grimy with two adults that I thought were pretty tidy?!

I'm cleaning the bottom on the fridge this morning. I did a few shelves earlier this month. I think I will look around the pantry again. I found a few things and tossed them earlier in the month. It's a work in progress. It's looking a little less cluttered though but takes forever to use things up.
I might take a stab at organizing some of the clothing in one spare closet. There are things hanging that I haven't looked at in ages.

I went thru my jewelry armoire and found a watch face with no band and an extra watch band in a plastic bag. I have no idea why I was saving either one so I tossed both of those. I have plenty of watches and batteries. So does hubby.
I also went thru and organized mine and hubby's undergarment drawers. His were so stuffed I could barely close them. He did relocate some bulky winter items which helped a lot. I tossed 2 socks and a pair of undiies and gave a couple of the socks that I couldn't find mates to to my puppy for toys. I'm expecting he will chew them up in short order and they will probably end up in the trash soon too,

@amyb - I would love to get some plastic dividers for our big utenstil drawer. It is a pretty big drawer and I have never measured it out to see exactly what size I would need and then gone out to actually purchase it. I should do that. In my spare time. You know.

Hubby stopped off at his moms a couple of days ago and brought home another box of "stuff". She is working on cleaning out a large, I guess you would call it a 3 season room, so we are getting all sorts of random items now. It is big and it was so full you couldn't even barely walk thru it. I don't know how it is looking now because I haven't been there lately and hubby says she is getting rid of quite a bit so that is good.
We did keep most of it, fortunately or unfortunately. There were several packages of brand new bars of soap that we will use, (won't need soap for a while) carpet cleaner for the steam cleaner, a couple of pet items, seeds. Hubby kept a box of "guy stuff" that I don't even know what was in it, nails, paint brush, gun cleaning kit, etc. I didn't look thru it. He also kept a huge, heavy binder of some of his family history. Talk about totally random items.
We tossed a couple of pet items and a very large onion bag that just looked like it had other plastic/onion bags in it. I dd not pull eveything out to double check, just tossed the whole thing. I'm telling you, she kept and re-used everything that she could.

Wow... @rnmom ...your MIL's home I can only imagine, but so good you are all working on it little by little by little, and seem to be making good progress.
The things you kept...at least some of those are "consumables" that won't just be saved, but used and used up. I've been working down my own bar soap stash...at this point I'm wondering if I'll even outlive it! Lol.
Your posts remind me of two people...many years ago I dated a guy, briefly, who once took me to his parents' home for a cookout. Their main living space was full but functional, and fine. But their recreation room, downstairs...looked like they were "pickers" and their stash was there...FILLED...top to bottom. I was in shocked and in awe. Never forgot it. Another interesting thing...and this guy had been a marine too, so maybe this affected his ways...but maybe in contrast to his parents' home...he, on the other hand was fastidiously NEAT AND ORGANIZED!! To the littlest detail.
Also, I have an aunt, the proverbial "self-professed" "QVC queen" (her and about a million others out there)...her "den", last time I was there, a while ago, was filled with Q stuff...cluttered, just "in there" some still in boxes. And her bedroom had purses all over...B. McKowsky (sp?) (remember THOSE ladies?!...they were never my style) ...anyway, those were her favs. The rest of her home was fine.
Ah well...we all have "our stuff", both physical, emotional...not judging, just observing...
Good luck on your continuing project! As long as mil is not buying more stuff...one day you'll turn a corner and start seeing a big difference!

@amyb - Oh yes, her house is quite something, definitely a hoarders house. Up until the last couple of years you couldn't even barely function in the living spaces, nowhere to even set a plate to eat. If the kids went over there they had to sit on the couch and eat on their lap. I've been married for 25 years now and have never had a meal in her house, she doesn't even have a table to sit at, just a counter.
Its really only been since my father in law got sick and nurses were coming out to the house that she even cleared up the main living spaces, but the rest of the house was still all hoarded up, along with another house next door to theirs.
Since he died she has been going thru his stuff and now she is also going thru some of her stuff too. I think she has realized that it's going to be difficult for her to function there alone for much longer she and is trying to help herself and make it easier if she can. Whatever her motivation, I'm glad that it's getting done, but I am not thrilled about all of the stuff we are getting. Like you said though, at least we can use some of it up.

I organized my dresser drawers and I found one pair of shorts to donate. They are dressier than knit shorts and I bought them to wear to church or to a nicer event when it's warm out but I've never worn them, I just wear skirts when it's warm. So they can go.

Not long at my house. Somehow the pantry gets filled quickly and I don't think I do big grocery runs at all. Maybe the trick is to reorganize frequently.
