Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

It's Toss it Tuesday again, 4 of 5 Tuesdays in July. Seems like it was just the beginning of June yesterday. Yikes!

Time to get back into the spare room to start clearing the catch all futon and more items out of the closet.

So long and thank you for your service...

-6 dining room chair pads, all flat as a pancake

-2 holey moley pilly small blankets

-2 sets of flannel bedding so faded and thread bare, I can read the newspaper through them.

Next Goodwill run...

-Laura Ashley weighted duvet that feels like you are sleeping under a ton of bricks. Trust me, the three little pigs would have no worries under this thing if big bad wolf began huffing and puffing!

Now after wrestling that weighted duvet into a very large bag and manhandling it all the way to the garage, I feel like I've gone three rounds with Hulk Hogan. Consider me down for the count.

Keep up the strong work my fellow purgers.

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

Just happened by a post by someone who mentioned too many pics on a phone and the "culprits" were the grandkids.  Oh my does that sound familiar.  I have been working these last few weeks to get rid of duplicates and/or lesser quality shots.  DH says cloud full and we do not need to pay more for storage, which I agree with.  I finally backed up photos on jump drive but  I have not taken next step to remove the "keepers" from phone.  That makes me nervous!

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

My older son has lost quite a bit of weight so a lot of his clothes are too big. He gave me a pair of cargo shorts to donate, we replaced them with 2 new pair. I know he has a few pairs of jeans in his closet that need to go  if I can catch him at home for 2 minutes to go thru them with him.

My older son tossed a pair of shorts that the tie broke so he couldn't keep them up.

Good morning peeps...back from Cape Cod, and a very nice time away.

Plodding through unpacking, catching up at home. As far as decluttering....only the fridge. Emptied all oldies, stuff past it's prime etc. Emptied a drawer to wash out and clean out of "old stuff" (cheese, deli meats), and one shelf to clean. Eventually, as I switch things onto different shelves, I'm cleaning it all bit by bit. Did this back in late winter/early spring...time to do it again.

Making a list to catch up on this week, that doesn't include much decluttering as a priority, though, I still have one small donation/consignment bag to deal with that's been hanging around all summer! And I also have things in my head I know I'm going to go through and get on...but likely more as fall approaches, later on.

@nwbabs Gotta say here...I love the humor you inject into your purging journey...always fun to read. Good progress. Don't forget the animal shelters if you have some old blankets, though perhaps you just felt these were too ratty.

All for now...caught up reading all your posts too. Keep on keepin' on. Have a good Sunday, everyone.🌞

Well, for whatever reason...since returning home...as I've been saying "my OCD has met with my ADD" and I have about 6 projects started and scattered around the house!!

And I have a check list that keeps getting longer! But at least I checked off a few things yesterday that are completed.

Rainy day today...good day to finish these (WHILE baking some molasses/ginger cookies!...b'cuz I have nothing sweet in the house, and those are the ingredients I have!) Lol.

Emptied a kitchen drawer yesterday, redistributed a few items, threw out some old corks and elastic bands. Going to clean and line that drawer today and put things back.

Still finishing cleaning fridge shelves...that will be done today!

Tossed a few other old pantry items.

That's it for now. More of a reorganizing, cleaning day ...but needed more than "decluttering", today...of course, if I see anything that can go, it will.

Happy Monday, all.

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

Yesterday I washed a Laurie Felt top and put it in the donation box.  I liked it but it was always hanging off my shoulders, last time I wore it, it just drove me nuts, I also pitched a black eather handbag, the handles were not leather, ugh, and pulled away from the bag as well as started to wear.

Re: Declutter 2024: What Have You Purged Today?

I organized both of our main floor bathrooms yesterday. I tossed a few small things, a bottle cap from some container I was saving, I forget why now, a couple of old toothbrushes, empty packages. Relocated a few things and took a few things out of boxes/packages to make more space. I didn't get rid of a lot but it looks neater now.

Some progress here...

Finished the toughest spots in the fridge yesterday, top shelves and drawers, and scrubbing the side/back walls too. The middle and bottom were done not long ago, so they're fine. If I get OCD about it later I'll do just the middle shelf too. All "dead" stuff is out, and it's not stuffed.

Finished that kitchen drawer from yesterday, lined it, put everything back neatly. Less in there now. I moved some bulky loose items in there I seldom need, like a few champagne stoppers/corking things, and gadgets like that to my dining area hutch where more of the wine/liquor items are. Left the kitchen drawer much neater...dish towels, hot pads, can opener, microplane and a few wine stoppers...those are the things I use all the time from there.

Went through another kitchen "catch-all" drawer this morning. Threw out old product info papers, random things. Neatened it up. I have only one kitchen drawer (besides the silverware drawer) that actually has plastic dividers in it...and that drawer stays beautifully organized always. So, when I'm out and about, I want to buy like dividers for that catch-all drawer to improve it. For today, it's neat again.

While I'm unpacking and putting away toiletry bags...I consolidated a small travel "nail/mani-pedi" bag with another small, cheap Philosophy plastic one I had stored away, that only had 3 items in it. Tossed that one and now all my travel nail stuff is in one small cosmetic bag.

That's it for today's tosses and organizing.

Have a good day everyone.
