Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@gidgetgh - so glad to see you're keeping busy.  I love the idea for your stepsons to view the items.

I think about you daily and am still keeping you in my prayers.

@Fifi1 - thank you.  I'm trying to keep busy but this is brutal, to be honest. Just brutal.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@gidgetgh I don't even want to think about what you are going thru.  You're getting up and doing what you have to do it sounds like - get lots of rest, it has to be extremely emotionally draining.

@gidgetgh, I'm so sorry. I didn't realize your DH had passed. You have my sincere condolences.
I'm sure keeping busy helps, but please take whatever time you need to grieve. And take good care of yourself.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

@gidgetgh , I'm sorry to read your husband passed away.

Today I emptied ten more closet hangers. We live in a state with four distinct seasons so I have a spring/summer closet and a fall/winter one. I now have 120 items on hangers, plus five outerwear items and three robes. Rounding out the closet are fifteen pair of shoes and four pajama sets. I love sweaters, but find them hot so I now have three folded sweaters on the closet shelf.

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

One box of clothing was dropped off at the church (for the shelter) yesterday, (5 skorts, 1 dress, and 3 sweaters). Four of the skorts still had the original tags. I purchased them prior to 2006 and haven't worn them. The dress was purchased prior to 2006 and only worn a couple times. The three sweaters were used when I received them years ago.

I tossed 1 bra, 1 panty, and 1 lone sock.

That's all for now...

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

After several months of not having any motivation to do anything around here other than routine maintenance, I'm finally starting to get a touch of motivation to pick up and organize a bt again. Not even so much declutter and purge, but I would like my spaces to feel more orderly. It's been hard with hubby and the kids home for 41/2 months already, but I'm getting tired of things the way they are. It doesn't look like any of them will be going back to school any time soon, so I might as well pick up a bit.

I added a pair of hiking boots to the donate pile from my son, he doesn't wear them and they look like brand new.

My storage room was turning into quite a mess so I did a bit of organizing and tidying up down there on Sunday. I found a couple of small things to donate: a small sleeping bag, a small fish bowl, 2 tote bags.

I added to recycling 3 large boxes from purchases like a new vacuum cleaner, xbox, deep fryer, plus a large shoe box and a catalog. Tossed a broken router, my son's old tennis shoes, broken sunglasses.

I didn't do small decluttering, like going thru totes, christmas decorations, etc. just the big things so that it was easier to walk thru. Broke down some big boxes so they weren't in the middle of the room. I'm pleased with how it looks and I'm feeling like I wouldn't mind doing some other spaces in the house too,

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

I got my old paperwork project done....All financial paperwork from the past 4 years is in folders now, banded together by year.  Went from huge unruly stacks of loose paper to about 12 pocket folders!  What a difference!

I threw away a LOT of paper there was no reason to save (ex: return labels from clothing purchased in 2016!).

Re: Declutter 2020: What have you purged today?

Had my yard sale this past weekend and had great success. The weather

was beautiful and I advertised in the newspaper and for the first time I

also put up pictures of the various tables of things for sale on Facebook.

Sold 3 bikes, player piano, school clothes, books, tools, curtains, new

sheets and placemats, blankets, toys, and lots more. It took a lot of my

time but hey I definitely had extra to set this up. Of course there is quite

a bit remaining but I may do it again in September when the weather

begins to cool down.

I do have some things remaining that I will take to Goodwill. Adult coats

and clothes do not seem to sell well and odds and ends of other stuff

that I went thru on Sunday.

We had the biggest turnout ever and a lady said to me that because

so many people are off and bored. We had our tables inside a garage

and many things set up nicely in a yard, so everything was spaced out.

Very happy with the results!
