I have been wanting to completely remodel 2 bedroom closets (either semi-custom or custom). I am figuring it will be about $150 linear foot, but know adding 50% to what I initially budget isn't uncommon for me.
That being said, does anyone have any personal experience with any closet companies that they would recommend or discourage?
I contemplated California Closets, but only for the purpose that it is favorable in a real estate listing. I'm not planning on moving, but always keep resale in the back of my mind when doing a project. I am open to any input (except maybe IKEA).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Edited to add.... I hope I didn't offend anyone by saying I may not be overly open to IKEA. They have many great items; but I'm trying to accommodate the needs of myself and DH and IKEA may cause 1 of us extra stress/anxiety).

depends how set you are on that California Closet look. I know my condo isn’t worth that kind of closet money so I’m checking into the wire system at The Container Store.

The closets are currently wood, so I was planning on using wood again.
I certainly love the Container Store, I know they offer a variety of closet options, but I haven't looked into them (perhaps I should). I hope you enjoy your new closet!

I will be doing the same this coming week designing the layout of my master bedroom closet of the home my husband and I are currently building. It is being built/designed by our builder.
I think the only people you may have 'offended ' in your post are those that cannot have or do not have the means to have such a service afforded to them. I guess those of us that CAN are no longer considered lucky or recognizable fortunate after much hard work but rather priviliged to do so. Can't go there anymore.
Yes, California Closets is rather higher priced for what they offer, many other companies out there depending on your area. I hope whomever you go with works well for you. Good luck!

@fitfuninformed Who's offended? That was a presumptuous paragraph you have there. Not sure where all that came from.

@fitfuninformed I’m not in the least offended. I can well afford to pay for California Closets. I can even afford to buy a home in which they would be appropriate. Neither choice is in my current value system.

Re-read the post, going a bit beyond the reference of IKEA and I apologize. My intention was not to offend either.

The first thing I did in my present and previous homes was to have someone install custom closets. I used a local family-owned company for both installs.Price and quality were great. It makes the whole difference in utility and organization- that, and Huggable Hangers. Money very well spent.

Thank you for your input @queendiva ! I have a local contractor who can install, which is good! My struggle is deciding on what works for our space.
@millieshops , I'm glad you mentioned The Container Store, as I forgot that they do offer some incredible closet services.

A friend of mine had her closets in her home done by the Container Store and she is very happy with the result.
