@Mellyg I'm all for easy to use closets, but my condo had been built with an good closet system -  all my racks and shelves can be re-arranged.   I'd lived almost 30 years in a converted barn with minimum closets added by the family that made it into a home right after the Great Depression.  My condo closets were already a huge upgrade.

Thank you @LilLadyNJ ! I would assume (and hope) they are a company that would produce a good product and stand behind their work.  They definitely have no shortage of space saving solutions! 

@millieshops I'm sure your home (before the condo) had character; I wouldn't be able to help but think of all that took place within the walls.    If the walls could talk, the stories it would tell and the lessons it would teach us!  Your closet is a much "smarter" system than mine. It's not adaptable. Albeit, if that were my biggest problem in life, I'd be doing pretty well.

We have used Closet Factory twice - in our former home and here in our current home.  In our former home, we had two master bedroom closets done and a kitchen pantry.  The home was built in the 1980's and while it was spacious,the closets and pantry were not thoughtfully planned - basically just spaces to put stuff.  We were extremely happy with the end product and I think it helped sell the house.  In our current home, we had the same company do a home office, a wine room and a laundry room.  Again, we are very pleased with the results.  They really listen to what you need and how you plan to use the space.  Good luck with whatever you go with!

Thank you very much, @FastDogWalker2 ! You experienced what I'm going through, space that isn't thoughtfully planned! Since DH and I have height difference, we need someone that will help with 2 different needs!

We built our home in 1988.  I paid a California Closets a little over $1000 back then to customize our master bedroom closet. That was a ton of money at the time!

Was it worth it?  Knowing what I know now, I would say no.  I have have to replace parts of it that have failed over the years.  A month or two ago, a rod holder broke while we were on vacation.  I came home to find a whole rack of my clothing on the floor.

I called CC to get a replacement piece.  One plastic holder was $28.   I found the same part on Amazon for about $13.  Instead of getting one piece, I got 20 pieces.  I now have way more than I need, but the price was better.

I am planning on redoing my entry hall closet.  I have been looking at DYI systems.  There is no way I am going to pay that kind of money again.

We tried a local closet company which has very good reputation.  Designer came out for free to design a solution for ill-shaped walk in closet.  Design looked good so we decided to try.  Great decision - should have done sooner.  

Experienced designer is important along with quality of materials.

I had California Closets done in my master bedroom in my old house.  I was pleased with the woman who came out to measure and offer ideas.  What fit, what would work and what wouldn't.  The end product came out very nice.  The house I live in now has 5 bedrooms and all have a walk in closet and all done by California Closet.  The previous owner had them done.  I think they all look great and function nicely.  I even have one in my pantry.  I like the organization it provides.

Thank you @ScrapHappy @Twins Mom @Carmie ! I appreciate your input. DH is very thorough when it comes to the durability of supplies (he knows more about how the slides in a drawer should be) and things of that nature.  But we really do need a professional that knows how to accommodate a layout, 

@Carmie , that's one of the last things you want to deal with after a vacation! I'm sure I'd have some choice words, lol!

California Closets did all of the closets in our house including a pantry and laundry room.  I would recommend them.

All you need is a good carpenter. Before I moved into my current home, I had the closets in both bedrooms double hung on one side (measure the length of the clothes you will be hanging on the top and on the bottom of the double hung side of the closet so that the carpenter will put the rod in the right place).  Then I bought Huggable Hangers from HSN to replace all my old hangers. These 2 things each doubled my closet space. I would still like a big walk-in closet though.
