Agree @lolakimono it needs a cat... or cats... Otherwise, it's a lovely, tranquil outdoor room. I don't care for the tile pattern and would have used something less stark and with less movement, but overall, it's a nice space.

This is a bit of a foreign concept to me. In my area of the country, we just don't see courtyards much. They feel so confining and small when you are used to acres (or miles) of open space. 

 

That said, if I lived in a very metropolitan area, I can see that this would be a nice, private oasis from all the busy.

A cat would probably use those planters at the base of the trees as litter boxes.  A dog would of course be more mannerly.
