Those rotisserie chickens are that good! I will use them for a couple of meals, leave quite a bit of meat on them and then put them in a freezer bag. When I have a couple frozen I make chicken stock for soups (doing that this week end).

You have to use your head in what you buy there. I no longer buy produce except for lettuce and avocado. I buy eggs, butter, meat, rotisserie chicken, sheets, towels, batteries, cleaning supplies, parchment paper, foil, Pellegrino, wine, flowers. pharmacy items, etc.

I also use Costco.com. My Whirlpool washer and dryer came from Costco (same customer service at a store - set them up and took old ones away). Just ordered metal shelves for my shed and they were delivered the day after I ordered them!

I love Costco - just be selective in what you purchase for a small household.

Love Costco. We have the executive membership and buy as much as we can even though we are down to two people. I love their Natural Peanut Butter (it's the best I've ever had) and it is a large size. But I eat a lot of PB and always give one of the jars to my mom. She eats it even faster!!

The Kirkland Marinara is outstanding and does not have any added sugar. It's hard to find "no added sugar" marinara elsewhere, especially for the Costco price.

Of course gas, paper products, dishwashing tablets, trash can liners, TVs, some clothes, meat, broccoli, lettuce, etc., etc.

BTW, you can freeze fresh cut up broccoli if you want. It works fine but of course after it's been frozen you can use it only as a cooked vegetable and not raw

Our rebates pay for the membership and the customer service/return policy are great!

We are a 2 person household and when we lived In Pa we were only about a mile from Costco so we joined. While our dog was alive it was a good bargain on dog food and treats for her, plus I had a large basement and I would buy large containers of Tide and toilet paper and paper towels and Canned veggies and other things that can store a long while so it was good for that - not so much bulky stuff to haul when I went to the grocery store.However, when we moved to Fl and no longer have a dog or the space to store much I don 't think it would be worthwhile for us.

That said - we did get a very good deal there on tires one year when , unfortunately, both our cars needed tires at the same time.

I always ;liked their meat but in Florida the chance of a bad storm and the electric going out is too high to chance having a lot of meat in the freezer.

I am a one person household (two when my son is home from university), and I use the standard membership. The Executive membership costs more, but you get a rebate. The rebate wasn't as much as the premium I was paying for that level of membership, so I went back down to the regular.

I don't get produce there, I just don't eat that much before it goes bad. But, boy, do I use it for everything else! Paper products and cleaning supplies, vitamins/supplements, batteries, chicken breasts that are boneless, skinless and individually vacuum packed and ready to throw in the freezer, bottled water, brownie mix (everyone loves the brownies I make with this mix!), Skinny Pop popcorn, protein bars, organic soups. I've gotten some good clothing items, jeans, pajamas, sweaters, underwear.

The one I go to has a gas station and their prices are always at least .10 lower per gallon than the next best price I see. The pumps are fast, the area is well lighted and clean, and there is always an attendant. If you have the Costco American Express, you get an additional rebate on your gas purchases.

I just picked up 5 fabulous blankets there, 2 of them nicer versions of the Basso faux fur TSV for 19.99 ( I returned my TSVs as Costco's are nicer) and the other three not faux fur for 14.99. Plus microfiber thermal layer tops 8.99, and a really nice reversible wrap for 14.99, plus the heavy flannel shirts ( mens) 12.99

Costco gas here is usually 2 cents cheaper than our cheapest local stations so I don't go out of my way to get gas there.

As far as groceries are concerned, if you're buying for one person and don't mind watching sales and clipping coupons, you can do better at the supermarket than at Costco. I don't know about the other stuff - electronics, tires, gasoline, eye exams, insurance, clothing, jewelry, etc. If you're a big consumer, Costco probably would help a lot with those.

I just got home from Costco. So crowded I almost couldn't find a parking space, so they must be doing something right. Got the huge 7 pound chocolate cake for DD bday. And then of course $150 of other stuff.

I save enough on one prescription for generic Maxalt alone to cover the membership. We also buy dog food there and I get my glasses there toon cheapest progressive lenses I have found. It's a 45 minut ride but we go once a month. Well worth it for just those few items but we buy other stuff sometimes too,

Oh and k-cups. Cheap and greener than the brand names. And great large dog beds.
