Those are two things that most people use all the time, and they can add up. But if you only go every now and then for a few things, then no. If you up your membership to executive, it costs more but they give you a rebate on purchases that offsets the annual fee and then starts giving you cash back.(My bolding above)
Kay SD. you're right! I forgot all about the gas! I have an Executive membership and every year I get a very nice rebate check. The Executive membership doesn't cost much more and the rebate check is always way more than that small extra membership fee. In fact, they told me they'd refund the extra fee if I didn't spend enough to come out ahead. I always do, so it's great. I enjoy getting that check!
We pay $110.00 each year. Our rebate is usually close to $50 but at Costco, you are entitled to at least the $55.00 back. So for those who get the rebate, if it's not at least $55.00, you can ask for the difference and they give it to you. One year I hope to go beyond the $55.00 rebate which would make the Costco membership really worthwhile.

Jay Jay, since we buy for our business, and also for our personal use, our rebate check is always way over that amount...always way over $100. It's really worth it for us.
oops..typo

Just the 2 of us at home now but I buy as much as I can at Costco because of the savings and quality; I don't buy much fresh produce there because we can't eat it before it goes bad but paper products are great because I only have to buy paper towels every four months or so.....great timesaver. We bought some shelves there for the garage where we store the paper towels, toilet tissue, paper plates, etc. Great convenience.
Clothing, rotisserie chicken, kale salad, bakery goods I love their bagels and loaf cakes....both freeze beautifully). I slice the cakes and put in lock&locks and freeze....just pull out a slice or two at a time. Black forest slice ham is really good also. I don't care for their fresh beef or pork, however.....don't know why but just not happy with it.
I highly recommend getting a membership there even if it is just 2 in the household.

Yes, it would be most worth it to have a Costco membership, The $55.00 yearly fee is the one I have, I buy in bulk and it certainly pays off in the end, I did the figures. I buy most of my meat, and all household products there as well as clothing, shoes, etc.

I upgraded to an executive membership for a short period of time- I was using one of the home services they have at the store to get a new HVAC system. That was approx $8,000 towards the executive card, what a great rebate!! Win win every way, I even use my Costso Amex to pay for the HVAC system and I got an excellent rebate with the card too.

Thanks again for all the great replies! Years ago I used to go to Costco with another friend who shopped there for the elderly residence she worked at. Everything looked so super-sized to me. But now I'm more interested and I'm going to check this out again... (those rotisserie chickens are that good, huh?) .....

If only for the savings on gasoline it is worth it. Stamps are less expensive. I also get my scripts there, but you do not need a Costco membership for the pharmacy.
