Re: Cool Swiss Architecture

[ Edited ]

I can only say that the top picture seems to me to be a good place to worship because it would force me to close my eyes being in that room, it’s so distracting. Maybe I’d focus more internally by trying to escape from the room mentally while praying or meditating there.

Agree about Escher, though he was Dutch and this architecture is said to be Swiss. Looking at an Escher design is intriguing. A whole interior of it is overwhelming. Only my opinion.

From Wikipedia:

Church of San Giovanni Battista, Mogno

The Church of San Giovanni Battista (Italian: Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista; German: Kirche San Giovanni Battista) is located in the alpine village of Mogno in the Swiss canton of Ticino.[1] It was built between 1994 and 1996 on the site of an older church (from 1626), which was levelled by an avalanche in 1986. The church is named after St John the Baptist.

The new church was designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta[2] who used marble and granite from the valleys of the area.

Hey @lolakimono

I keep meaning to ask whether you mind if I post sources for your images.

I don't want to distract from the discussion, and will follow your lead as to whether you are OK with it.  Or if maybe it's OK toward the end of a discussion as opposed to the beginning.  Or whether it's just a big no!

(I don't mind either way since I am going to check on sources just for myself.  Curious minds and all that.)
