I can't list all the problems I've had with them, from techs saying they installed dvrs when they didn't to bill increases due to incorrect billing on their end... The list goes on and on. I'm stuck with them for now, but never again once I move!!!

I always thought that about Comcast, until I had to deal with Verizon for two years. What a nightmare. They are the most dishonest bunch I have ever dealt with, and are pure evil as far as I'm concerned. I was delighted to go back to Comcast after being raked over the coals by them.

Comcast is far from perfect. But, when I've had a problem, I've always been able to get someone to resolve it. I now have a name of somebody in corporate customer service, so he has resolved several issues for us.

As far as paying for house visits, that has always been their policy. If the problem is in your house, you pay for the visit. They do have a service plan that costs just a couple of dollars a month, and that includes home visits.

I get great customer service from Comcast. Verizon was a nightmare, never could get anyone to answer the phone. As for the charges, I have a service contract with Comcast so I AM COVERED.

I HAVE A DVR BOX that has been a nightmare. Too many stories for this small space. But finding someone to help me has been seamless. In our area the HD lead gives us Local on the 8's from someplace else... not my local area. In standard mode it is fine. After contacting Comcast I was told to change my preferences until they work it out with the Weather Channel. And the Weather Channel contacted me after the initial call to Comcast. How is that for service.

Comcast is not my favorite company. When my dad died seven years ago we called Comcast to get the name on the bill changed from his to my mom's. We just wanted to change the name on the bill from my dad's to my mom's, but she was keeping everything the same. They wouldn't change the name on the bill. We'd also have to send them a copy of the death certificate since he wouldn't be able to confirm the cancellation himself since he was dead and also send them proof that the person who was cancelling the service had the authority to do so.

Yes- I dealt with stuff like this when my father died. I thought about including some ashes also with the bill in case the DEATH certificate wasn't sufficient. {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} The problem is, even if you decide not to tell them that the person is deceased and continue to write checks, you can only keep the person on the account for two years. I know they wouldn't have a problem cashing anyone's check (or electronic payment), but you know there would be a time down the road when a service call was necessary, and then your mom wouldn't be able to authorize the repairs. It just adds insult to injury for the survivors when they have to keep explaining that the person is DECEASED.

I feel your pain - mine is Time Warner Cable.

We had Insight Cable before Time Warner bought them. Calling Insight was a pleasant experience - seriously! I have never had nicer customer service that resolved every problem or question asked of them. I HATE that our choices are so limited.

Okay, but if it was their cable (just a cord from box) that came from them during original install and we did not change it out (like the guy suggested we had done)...why is considered a problem on our end? The problem didn't even get fixed. I'm afraid to ever call again, who knows what I will be charged next time.

Scraphappy---- I dont know if this will work for Comcast but it did for my sister with Time Warner.....she called and asked for a Supervisor and threatened to cancel and they just cowed down removed the charges and even gave her a super price for a year to keep her...As I said I dont know if Comcast can be bullied ..... she also mentioned she called Direct TV and their special was $49 a month....for premium channels, DVR etc etc....maybe that helped too,,,,,,

I have a new cable company and they give excellent service and never charge when they come out.,,,,of course they are not in all areas of the city yet, and perhaps when they expand their customer base they will provide that same level of non service you can expect from time warner or at&t. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}
