When we remolded our kitchen, the updated appliances with color were just starting. That was around 2008. I really wanted a beautiful stove in a retro color. But it wasn’t in the budget. At that time we were gutting the kitchen , building a dining/sun room and new porches. I think one nice appliance with color can really make a nice statement. But of course I would need a hood to match and probably a fridge. Chi Ching!!
If I were remolding today I would go for it!
I do love the almond, white and black posted. but I saw an robin egg blue at that time that I loved. It would be a hard decision on what color for me now and would probably drive me crazy trying to decide.

@Hoovermom

My complaints go against the grain of what everyone claims gas is suppose to be.

More even heat...NO WAY!  Where ever the flame is...that part of the pan/food is boiling away....the rest of the pot is not.  Doing nothing on the edges.  I can actually see the 'fire ring' of where the flames are hitting.  To me, there is no even heat distribution...only where the flames are.

Quicker boil...NO WAY!  It takes just as long as my electric did to boil water.  I grow older just waiting!

Better control of temps...I have a 5 burner KA gas top.  It was a higher end model and has lots of bells and whistles, different size burners etc...

I have 2 temps...nothing or boiling over!  I can't get anything to just stay warm or simmer on any burner.  Even the 'melt' function is boiling the contents.  There is no walking away when you are cooking to do something else.

Hard to clean...my model has large heavy duty grates.  They are hard to clean and heavy to remove and clean underneath.  I will say, this KA stainless is a dream to wipe up though.  Just water mostly.  No streaks!  It's just you have to dismantle the thing to clean it.

Image result for ' 5-Burner Gas Cooktop with GriddleIn the defense of gas, I cooked with electric for over 40 years.   I should have stuck with what I knew.  My sis purchased a house with gas and likes the change.  I built mine and chose the change.  I know so many that love it, but I have been growling at this thing for 3 years now.  My big mistake was not running the electric line....just in case.  Our basement is completely finished and it will be a mess to run it now....but I still might!

Re: Colored Stoves/ Ranges

[ Edited ]

Our appliances turn three years old in February. Oh, how I regret getting stainless ones, but they fit the space. Would have gotten almond ones, but only very basic apartment ones were available.

Wow, I'm impressed with the variety of colors.  I had no idea there were so many.  Anyways, my vote is for "misty blue" .. those of you who know me I'm sure aren't surprised since I'm usually a "lean to" blue person.

Of course, depends on the kitchen design & personal wish list.  I also like the milkshake, ink blue, red - the avocado green goes back to the 70s.  My mom had that color for a fridge.  Good luck to your friends with their decision.

I understand the love of blue.  It always draws me in.

The appliances really pop in that all white kitchen.  It's a little too retro for me though.

I have gas as well and prefer electric.  Switching to electric just wasn't in the budget when I purchased my home.

@RespectLife , I wonder if you need to have your gas stovetop serviced?  If the flames are uneven, it may be that some of the feeds for the flame are blocked.

I have a Bosch dual fuel and I would never go back to electric.  Temperature control for me is much better with gas.

Perhaps a service call is in order.

I like the red, black, and misty blue.  I put stainless in my kitchen and wished I hadn't. While I like the color of stainless, it's just so hard to keep looking nice. I used to worry about resale value but don't anymore.  To me, you only go around once so you should choose what makes  YOU smile.

It seems retro....what was "on trend" years ago.....What I would consider is choosing a color that would work with multiple designs and styles just in case in the future you want to change the look of your kitchen and considering what you spent on that colored appliance you definitely would have to keep that and couldnt afford to replace it again with something new...
