Don't care for the color of the sofas but a good looking room.

Uh. No. Not a bad room and some nice elements but aside from the fireplace, which has a traditional flavor, the only things reading remotely colonial to me are the modified Windsor chair and possiby that sort of hokey neo-Early American rooster lamp... That said, the room has good bones and I like the rug, sofas, windows, fireplace and the pretty kitty perched on the nice looking built-ins...

I like this room. It's not overdone or fussy.

I like the room itself. Furniture not so much. All the windows are great.

Thanks @jubilant

The architectural details of the room are lovely; however, not sure about the two matching long sofas.  Plopping large sofas on either sides of the room in front of windows isn't my style of decorating.

Interior decorators would like it because it looks staged and adding a Windsor chair and colonial candles doesn't make the decor colonial.

Long narrow spaces aren't the easiest to decorate, but a lot could be done to make this room more inviting.  It's also the same trendy neutral decorating we see everywhere.

Overall, it's too linear and stiff for me.

Not a fan of the sofas and the windows are begging for something...

This particular room is underwhelming;  I've tried to analyze why, and am not coming up with anything very insightful!   Would say--  the color scheme is tired, the beigey-turquoise-deep red seems from a few decades back.  Ditto the oval coffee table.  Too many tiny or fussy accents, like the sconces, the pottery on mantel, the frowzy table lamp...

Overall feeling (to me) is a bit programmatic and ersatz "traditional".  The glowing fire is welcoming however, and the bowl of red apples a nice touch!

@jubilant  I like the room setting and colors, but the sofas remind me of a Quaker meeting! How is that conducive to comfortable  conversation?
