Has anyone had a coffered ceiling installed?  If so, I would appreciate your feedback....cost, pros/cons, size of the room and who did the installation?

I have coffered ceilings in my living room and dining room.  You will need a finish work carpenter to install them.  Cost would depend on how ornate you make them.  You should also consider the height of your ceiling when deciding if you want to add this feature because they will bring the height down quite a bit; probably a foot or more.

You may decide to do only part of a room.  For example, in my dining room I chose to have the coffered part over the center of the room where the table and chairs are.  In the living room I chose to coffer the area near the fireplace, while the other end of the room has beamed ceilings.

I can't really give you a price because we had other work done as well and I don't know how much the ceiling work was.

As far as room size, my rooms are large and the ceilings are ten feet without the coffers.

A designer or architect can help you make these decisions and offer recommendations for ideas you probably never even thought of.

Our house has it in the family room. Our ceilings on the 1st floor are 10ft.  The coffered drop is about 8 inches...We had the finishing carpenters do this when the house was built.  I love the look it gives the room because of the high ceiling.
