Re: Coastal Home Vignettes...

I like the house.  But I don't like any of the decor.

The only positive for me is the color of the bedroom walls.  Otherwise, no.

Wow, that's some fancy, south Florida or Carribean "coastal."

Coastal where I'm at in CT looks a lot different...more New England. Which is understandably different in different locales.

That said, I don't like any of the decor...but I do like the rooms, and open spaces, and those beautiful big french doors and domed window above. Love the clean fireplace wall.

The bedroom I'd clean out completely, take off the curtains, and do clean, cottage type coastal...just a personal preference. I'd change those cold, hard tile floors too, to hardwood with area rug, or even some soft carpeting.

The kitchen....I'd just plain run from! lol

Re: Coastal Home Vignettes...

This is very Miami to me. I love the pale blue color used.

I am not one for heavy drapes but I can see how they are needed in extremely hot climates.

The kitchen would have to have the wallpaper and drapes removed/replaced. Maybe just an accent of the wallpaper would be OK.

The drapes would be replaced with shades or blinds for a cleaner look.

I would never have drapes in a kitchen.

Gut it and start over.  Great bones, would love to tackle it.

Re: Coastal Home Vignettes...

When I think of Coastal I think Inviting, warm, comfortable, homey, etc. (among other things)  The decor used here is far too stiff and formal for me.  Plus, I just don't care for it, personally.  I do kinda like the bedroom but would still have to tweak it quite a bit for me.

This is not altogether my cup of tea either, but let me just note, there are various incarnations of 'coastal' and no, this is clearly not 'coastal cottage'... Smiley Wink

For sure, and I didn't mean to imply otherwise...perhaps just acknowledging to myself, and stating how steeped in New England, Cape Cod coastal I personally am. Smiley Happy

Miami and elsewhere tropical...a whole different vibe.

This..."vibe" in these photos is not mine either. Love that living room though...as a blank slate.

Re: Coastal Home Vignettes...

I'll pass on this decor.  It does not read Coastal at all to me. These rooms are  Formal and stiff. Coastal is more of a relaxed, easy type of decor.
