Closet purges done (first pass)

Just took 10 bags to Goodwill, which includes what my local consignment shop did not take. Gave one big bag to a former co-worker also. Can't believe how many clothes I still have hanging up or in drawers!! As my discussion title suggests, I will be doing a 2nd pass through in a few months. This pass was to eliminate unworn clothes (criteria was 2 years of not wearing something) or duplicates. I'm fully retired now so will not be needing as many dress clothes. Discovered I had 5 pair of gray pants/jeans as well as found a few sweaters that were buried in a pile of sweatshirts. Now, I know exactly what I have (I also did an inventory) and where it is. It feels really good to get rid of all that "stuff" and I intend to keep it that way. Thanks for listening to me vent.

Re: Closet purges done (first pass)

Congratulations! I cleaned out my closets recently and got rid of a lot of clothes, too. I need to do it again though. I pulled out a sweater that I hadn't worn in a long time the other day and wore it. I really liked it, and I'm going to try to pull out more things to wear. My closets are small and crowded. I think that's one of the reasons that I tend to pull out the same things to wear all the time. I need to get rid of more clothes, though, so my closets won't be so crowded and I can see what I have.
