I think it’s clever, but it would personally drive me nuts, I hate clutter

CLUTTERED and awful.

Why have an floating staircase if you decide to fill up the airy space behind it?  A wall like that is perfect for artwork.

I love the way it looks.  Not cluttered at all!

You should see my apartment.  I ran out of room for bookcases years ago.  I have books stacked in on just about every available surface.  They are stacked according to category - so it's (usually) easy to find what I'm looking for.

Clever.
I love it! When you live in a small space like I do (under 1000 sf), you come up with all sorts of tricks.
Books are never clutter. My guess is this is the home of a younger adult.

Re: Clever or Cluttered?

It needs to be built in with doors and could even have a few drawers.  As it is, it is a cluttered mess.

What's with the handrail?  Is that an optical illusion?

If there were no items on the two bottom gray cement? stairs, no guitars and no hanging chair in griping of the books it would not look cluttered. The extra things I just mention make the area seem messy. If ALL the books were neatly stacked into the wall shelves and the chair was removed it would look clever and not cluttered.
