Clutter!!

We have a lot of books too.  Most of them are my husband's.  Maybe I will read one of them some day.  We had Closets by Design install books shelves in our den and in our bonus room, and it looks great!

Very clever use of space. I would do it and add built in doors to hide what was stored there.

Both!  It's a clever idea, but her arrangement of the books and nick nacks and the decor against the walls under the stairs is clutterly looking.

I would prefer a more formal set-up.  The whole wall behind the books would look better painted blue.  There is too much gong on.  I also would remove the books at the bottom on the carpet and the floating willow basket chair.

I agree. I think the bookshelves are a fantastic idea, but the art behind them is too busy and makes poor use of the shelves. Books are on the steps and there's loads of empty space on the shelves so you can see the art. That doesn't make sense to me. Get the books off the steps and into the shelves and this would be much better.

Apparently they did what they had to in order to live in a small apartment. I'd probably look for larger living quarters.

Another vote for BOTH!  Very clever idea, but I don't like the extended bottom steps or the cage thing.   IMO, those clutter up what is otherwise a great use of space.

I think it's clever...you do what you have to in a small space!

Do you think it's clever or cluttered?

I liked it until they added the extension at the bottom.......overkill IMO.
